(AN: Thank you all for trying out my new story. Love you all!)
She looks over to the stone, can barely read the name through her waterfall of hair that had long since fallen from the bun she had so carefully placed it in not hours ago. As tears threaten to spill, all she can think about is the last time they were here ... together.
She is falling.... falling...falling deeper and deeper into sorrow until a familiar hand pulls her gently from her reverie.
---6 months Earlier---
My best friend is standing in front of me telling me that I got into the school that I always wanted to be in, The Busan School of Performing arts. I would have never believed Aurora if she didn't have the paper in her that said that I had made it into the best performing art school in South Korea (In my opinion). Aurora and my other friends Hannah, Karla, Emilee, and Brooklyn already go to school there. They got in last year, but they have been in the waiting list for 3 years. So have I, but the Dean of the school said that once a spot opens up it will immediately be mine. I was so excited that I will be starting tomorrow.
The first thing I do when I get home is I shoot a quick text to Hannah and Emilee telling them the good news. Then my thoughts lead me elsewhere I remember that they will all be gone tomorrow because they have a field trip to Pohang for their English class. So, I won't see them until after school. I quickly opened the package that was at my house and found the school uniform in there. When I was put on the waiting list, they measured me to make my uniform and it fits perfectly... and I am looking good. I quickly change into my pj's and jump into bed so I can get up early for school in the morning.
-----Nightmare-----
I am in the car with my parents, we are all laughing and telling jokes. There is something off about this situation, because my parents had died in a terrible car crash 10 years ago and ... then a blunt force pulls me out of my thoughts as an oncoming car hits our car head on killing my parents on the spot and leaving me with four broken ribs and a broken collarbone.
I awake with a scream and start crying, suddenly I feel a pair of arms wrap around me and pull me into a tight I want to fight back but my body is too weak, so I just collapse into the arms that I know too well as my aunt. She took me in after my parents died. I sat there crying in her arms for a good half hour. Once I am done crying, I tell her about my nightmare and she listens intently, absorbing my words like they are a life source. She envelops me into an even tighter hug than before and she starts to sing.
I closed my eyes in darkness.
and opened them in light,
and over the world,
like a flag unfurled,
was a sweet sound and a holy sight.
A dove spread wings of magic.
its shadow was golden and broad,
and the people of earth,
in a passion of birth,
had shattered an ancient sword.
By the end of the second verse, I was already almost asleep. There is something about my aunt's voice that reminds me so much of my mother. I drift off to sleep and my aunt looks at me with worry in her eyes. She leaves me to sleep the rest of the night. After all, I do have a big day ahead of me.
