A couple hours had passed by and I hadn't seen Mandex pass by me, or heard him for that matter.
Click. Clack. Click
I spoke too fucking soon.
"There he is. Big son of a bitch."
He was out of bed clothing, wearing a tight black shirt that hugged his bulging muscles and broad shoulders almost perfectly, some slightly loose fitting black jeans locked tight on his waist with a utility belt which held the shape of gun inside. A small silver chain hung around the collar of his neck, a slightly rusted silver heart-locket just below it.
"Where do you work that you look like your gonna go assassinate someone?" I inquired, watching as he turned his deep purple eyes that were adorned with a ring of red to me, flashing a lopsided grin.
"So he has vampire blood. Good to know."
"Security Guard. Down on southwest." Mandex said, grabbing a key from the counter and tossing it to me.
I grabbed it with my flexible tail and brought it up to my hands.
"There's the extra dorm key if you decide to go somewhere while I'm gone. I probably won't be back until late this evening." Mandex told me as he grabbed a ring of keys from a pin on the wall and a taser from a drawer.
"Alright Snowie, don't get into too much shit while I'm gone, aight?" Mandex walked past me, giving me a firm pat on the shoulder with his large hand.
"Whiskey will be here to keep ya company." Mandex said as he walked out, shutting the door behind him.
"Who the fuck is- OH SHIT!" I screeched, flinching as a dog the size of a black bear prowled from around the corner.
The Newfoundland tilted his head, just as confused if not curious as I was.
It began to stride toward me, huffing and panting as it got closer, drooling incessantly. With a hiss, I shifted to my small snow leopard form and bolted down the hall to the bedroom, locking the door.
I unshifted, pulling out my phone.
I frantically scrolled, searching to find the number Mandex had given me to call him if needed. I quickly dialed it, waiting for an answer.
"I just got in the car, what do you need?" Mandex questioned me.
"What the absolute FUCK did you leave me with?" I yelled into the phone.
"That's just Whiskey, he's sweet. Just give him a treat off the counter and he won't bother ya." He answered so nonchalantly as if I wasn't on the other side of the phone panicking my fucking brains out.
"That motherfucker is looking at me like I AM the godamn treat." I hissed again, my tail lashing.
"Just stay in the bedroom, I'll be home before you know it, Snowie." Mandex tried to convince me.
"My name is Maddox. Now could you please come get your damn bear." I groaned, growing impatient.
He went silent for a moment before huffing with exasperated sigh.
"On my way." Mandex spoke finally before hanging up.
I waited for him to return, hiding out in the bedroom away from the dog. Pretty soon I heard the front door open and the familiar click of Mandex’s heavy boots pacing across the floor.
[Mandex's POV].
I strode in, finding the little snow-cat was hidden somewhere from my dog.
"Whiskey! C'mere boy!" I called him, lowering myself down as he charged toward me.
He leaped up onto my shoulders, nearly knocking me backwards as I hugged him, patting his soft white fur.
"C'mon, you wanna go see Ms. Laney?" I cooed, stroking his ears as he lapped at my face, nearly drenching me in dog slobber.
He barked at me, at what I suppose was confirmation. I grabbed his leash from the coffee table and attached it to his collar with a click.
Patting his back, I led him out the door and a few doors down my hall.
I knocked on the door, awaiting for an answer which I received nearly immediately.
"Hello Ms. Laney, how are you this morning?" I smiled at the short, blonde woman, which she returned.
"I'm doing just great, Mandex. What brings you to my door?" She hummed, brushing her dirty blonde hair behind her right ear.
"I was wondering if you could watch Whiskey for me until I get back from work? I'd keep him in my dorm but my new dorm-mate is scared-shitless of him." I explained to her as she gazed up at me, smiling kindly.
She nodded at me, understanding my predicament.
"Of course I will! Anything to help my favorite neighbor." She agreed, taking his leash from my hand.
"Thank you, Ms. Laney. You're a doll. Have fun!" I thanked her, walking off to return to my dorm.
