It was raining as I sat on my comfy couch draped in a blanket and with the cup of hot chocolate watching the slow pitter of rain outside through my glass window.

Watching the rain and getting lost in this nature has always been my comfort place. I watched as droplets raced each other down the glass, leaving behind intricate patterns that danced and shimmered in the soft light.
With a mug of hot cocoa cradled in my hands, I sank deeper into the plush cushions, reveling in the warmth that enveloped me. Outside, the world was transformed into a blur of gray, the streets glistening with raindrops and the trees swaying in the breeze.

THUD!!

I jolted from my seat as I heard that sound like something fell off in my hallway as if someone threw something at the wall, but I was alone in the house. I got scared, I tried to think of some rational reason behind that noise. Maybe the cat got inside somehow and thought 'let's do a party here' and started stumbling over things or some ghost thought it was a perfect opportunity to scare me.

'No no no no.... Serena don't think about ghosts, you are alone and it's night time so it's really not time to..'

Wait..what, it's night time! No I was watching rain in broad daylight but when I turned around and looked at window it was really pitch black outside. Stunned I kept watching outside as if the rain and darkness will provide answers why its suddenly night. I swear it was day time.

Confused. I started walking in the direction of the hallway to see what caused that noise but as I turned around from the corner I was faced with different surrounding. I was no longer in my house. Rather it look like some abandoned house hallway. How come I am here I was sitting on my couch. Now I'm scared. 'what is happening!'

In this dimly lit room, shadows danced on the walls, twisting and contorting into grotesque shapes. The air in here was heavy with a sense of foreboding as I found myself standing in the hallway of an old, abandoned mansion. Each step I took echoed loudly, sending shivers down my spine.

As I explored further, the walls seemed to close in on me, suffocating me with their oppressive presence. Suddenly, a chill ran down my spine as I heard a faint whistle emanating from the darkness. The tune filled me with dread. There is only one person who plays this tune.

I stopped completely on my track. Scared beyond my life. Dread filled me so much as I listened to the whistle. It was familiar and chilling. I started sweating thinking it's coming back. He is here! I need to get out of from here. Run! When I turned around to get hell out of here ,again I came to halt as I saw there is wall behind me and no way to go from there. If I want to escape this room then there's only one way and the whistling sound is coming from the same end. I started to look for any other way to escape, heck the ac duct will do!

And then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw it-a figure standing at the end of the hallway, bathed in darkness. Its features were obscured, but I could feel its eyes boring into me, filled with malice and hunger. Suddenly the air drop around. I started feeling cold and shiver rundown my spine. The surrounding filled with so much dread and darkness that no living being can ignore. Silence. The whistling stops and it was pin drop silence.

Heart pounding, I turned to run, and surprisingly there was not any wall now rather a long hallway but the hallway seemed to stretch on endlessly, trapping me in this nightmarish maze. I was very close to the end of the hallway when I again heard the whistling and it was coming from there and suddenly I saw the same shadow of that person standing in the middle of my escape. I came to a complete stop and started slowly backing up. My body started shaking due to fear. The person started to tut disapprovingly while slowly taking steps toward me.

" Tsk..tsk..tsk......what I had said babygirl......No running"

This same voice which always fills me with dread. The deep voice which carries a sense of authority and strength. It is like a chilling gust of wind cutting through the silence. Suddenly he was a foot step away from me. I can feel his body heat. It was a chilling experience and then he looked up with his piercing dark blue eyes.

His eyes bore into me commanding attention and obedience. I was frozen at my place. The same eyes who haunt me for past years stare at me to disobey him, screaming run and see what happens but I was rooten at my place unable to move and unable to stare anywhere else other than his eyes. It is like hallucinations. The one stare alone carries authority.

"Soon"

Just when I thought I couldn't take it anymore, I jolted awake, drenched in sweat, grateful to find myself safe in my own bed. But even as I tried to shake off the lingering terror, I couldn't shake the feeling that the nightmare wasn't over-that somehow, the darkness still lingered, he still lingered, waiting to claim me once more.
