Jimin pov.
These were not the arms of my best friend.
Nope.
I've felt Tae's arms before, slightly warm, yet familiar and comforting.
But these... They were hard and muscled, with a length that made me wonder if they could wrap around my tiny body twice over. It felt as if the owner of these arms had a sinister plan in mind, like a snake ready to squeeze the life out of me until I gave in.
In that moment, I quickly righted myself, my heart pounding in my chest, and took a step back as if Jungkook had suddenly burst into flames. The weight of Taehyung's gaze, heavy on the side of my face, only added to the intensity of the situation.
I couldn't help but curl my upper lip in disdain. "Ugh, seriously? Any excuse just to get their hands on me. Who knows where those arms have been?" Probably wrapped around someone like Lisa.
Jungkook snorted and took a step forward, playfully flicking my forehead. He hovered close to my face, like one of those annoying flies that just won't leave the fruit bowl alone in the summer. "How cute. You're still in your gay phase."
"Ew, you're not even my type," I shot back, sticking my tongue out at him, inadvertently proving his point.
Jungkook laughed, I ignored him and I couldn't help but flash Taehyung a genuine smile, grateful for his presence. "Hey," I greeted, running a hand through my messy hair, trying to compose myself.
Taehyung's silence spoke volumes as he arched his brow and glanced between us. "Everything okay out here?" he asked, his voice laced with concern.
"Yeah, everything's cool. We were just chatting about the project, you know? No big deal," I replied, trying to downplay the tension.
Jungkook couldn't resist chiming in, teasingly pointing out, "That's funny, 'cause I don't recall us discussing the project just now."
I couldn't help but snap back, "Did I ask you?"
Taehyung interrupted our glaring match, diffusing the situation. "Alright, alright. Things are never just fine with you two, but I've gotten used to it by now. So, are you coming in or what?"
With a bit more force than necessary, I brushed past Taehyung and stepped inside, immediately greeted by the mouthwatering aroma of chicken BBQ. "Please tell me your mom made her famous BBQ Chicken with Garlic sauce."
"You're in luck," Taehyung said with a smile, placing his hands on my shoulders and guiding me toward the dining room. The familiar warmth and comfort of Taehyung's home enveloped me, easing the tension that had been lingering between us.
"I'll just go drop my stuff in my room," Jungkook called out, his voice trailing behind us. I couldn't help but feel a little surge of joy that no one seemed to care about his absence.
Taking my usual spot beside Taehyung at the table, I gladly accepted Mrs. Jeon's offer of lemonade. As she set a giant bowl of tossed salad on the table, we engaged in some small talk. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, a stark contrast to the tense silence that often filled my own dinner table.
We said grace, a customary practice in their household, which provided a nice reprieve from the awkwardness. With our plates filled, I eagerly took a bite of the kimchi japchae, barely containing my moans of pleasure. However, my bliss was interrupted as Mrs. Jeon glanced over at me, a timid expression on her face.
"Jimin, honey, I hate to ask this, but I can't avoid it any longer. What on earth happened to your eyes?" she inquired, concerned etched on her face.
The bite of food turned to mush in my mouth. I shot a probing gaze at Jungkook, who hung his head, staring at his food like he was performing brain surgery. Meanwhile, Taehyung choked on a forkful of salad, clearly sensing the tension in the air. "Oh, you didn't hear?" I asked, trying to keep a mischievous tone.
