They're all dead. Every single one of them. The boys I enlisted with four years ago, none of them survived. But I did. They tried to shoot me when I escaped, but I was too quick for them. I was never going to be just another casualty, just another nameless, faceless corpse to be buried in mass graves with the others. The training was meant to destroy emotions, crush free will. It didn't work.
That's how I ended up here. Now I'm more than just fodder for the heavy artillery. My existence means something to these people. I am valued. The government is going to pay for threatening my family. I became so much more on this side of the border. Finally, I have reached my full potential.
You never saw this happening, did you? That scrawny kid you beat into the dirt every single day turning out like this? Having more power behind their name than you will ever encounter during your insignificant lifetime. Funny how the tables turn, isn't it?
