The light bubble found its way towards a lake with a guest.
Blue was sleeping another hundred years since he found a hidden place to scape his own hellish nightmare.
He had run into the woods when that gift of blue hair made him unlovable... At least by that one who promised to love him.
Didn't find another home in the longest day in his life after deciding that he probably didn't deserve to be mistreated for something he had always been. He didn't have to change himself, just change places.
He was willing to bet for the outside, maybe it would be kinder than the abuser he used to love.
It was daylight, but the rain cleaned remains of his homesickness. He was cold, but free of his former home.
Rain was more tender than he thought, as he kept walking, looking for... a new life, rain walked with him.
He saw the world in it's various forms as the night fell kindly over him and the coolness of rain made him feel protected from the not-so-kind darkness that came with it.
Was rain going to stop this illusion of protection over him? Was this it all? He walked away from his cage and... It was the end?
What would happen when darkness took him? He knew it wouldn't be better than the place he left behind, but it wouldn't be worse.
Rain got heavier for a second and then slowly stoped.
He was alone again, with the night and his loneliness and blue hair.
At least he had seen the world once again before falling for the shadows.
Or so he thought.
Moonlight became blue in a sudden. He felt recognized by the sky.
Selene saw him as a soul.
The blue light was collected into drops of the rain that haven't fallen forever yet.
Two blue drops of light became two blue flames in front of his eyes.
- "Good night, Blue" the flames greeted, and he knew his new name, his new life had begun
***
Night didn't claim him that night, nor any other after it. The flames decided to declare themselves his new family, the night woods his new home.
And he travelled around it every fall of the sun to find lost wounded souls like he once was long ago, at least he felt it had been in another life that he was rejected and scared to death, enough to run from the former home he had already forgotten.
The day/night he saw a Little cat being adopted by a bigger cat who sword to take him to a safe place, Blue felt something different.
A feeling that he skipped the day he left home and found the night wood he inhabited now.
The day he met accompanied the two cats thru the shadows and guided them safe, he asked the blue flames for a rest.
They guided him to the lake of water vapor, and he felt a relief he never knew before.
With the excitement of a new home and the desire to help others like him, he didn't realize how tired he was.
How exhausting it was to live in a traitor home, and escape it.
He fell asleep, deeply with no desire to wake up soon.
And the flames allowed him to rest.
Until now.
"Wake up" he heard in his dreams, the flames were calling him again.
They needed him for something. And maybe he needed that something too.
He sayw the water moving over him, taking him out of his bed lake.
Awake.
