Disconnected.

Reason:

'I didn't think anyone else still played this game.'

He wasn't going to give up that easily. Jay sighed, turning back to enter again. The player was in the same place.

"I didn't think anyone else still played this game."

"Ikr?" Jay replied.

"I didn't think you'd come back."

Huh. That was different. Jay needed answers.

"Yeah. I was curious." He answered. He wasn't sure why he was curious. Things hadn't gone so well before.

The other player paused for a second, as if debating something. "Follow me."

Jay followed, not sure why. Was he stupid? He supposed it didn't matter. He would be ok. He always was.

The other player led him over to the woods. Farther and farther in. Over to the edge. He had never been over the edge. Too cowardly, he supposed. Or too smart.

So of course he was surprised when the other player jumped off. What the- "What are you doing?"

Something told him to jump. He didn't know what. It wasn't an act of desperation either. Or despair. Just... curiosity. He took a step forward, leaning over the edge. He stepped off.

Falling. Falling. Thud. Ow.

"Took you long enough." Jay looked towards the other player. They were in a black void. "Hurry!" Jay's vision was getting blurry and dark. What was this? What was this?! The other player took his hand, dragging him through the void, and suddenly Jay wasn't in the void anymore. What the?!

He was surrounded by lines of numbers and symbols and letters. It didn't make any sense. What is this? But in all the lines of whatever it was, something stuck out.

"What the hell?" Jay demanded. "What is this?!" The other player sighed. "Welcome to the code."

"The what?" This was so confusing. "The code. See, this is just a game. An experience, if you will. I'm what you call an NPC. Or, nonplayable character."

This... what? What was this? A game? "And you're a player. But you see... I've been planning big things. A jail break, perhaps."

"A jail break...?"

"I want to see what else there is. I know there's more beyond this little world of mine. I want to see it. I want it. And I think you can help."

Jay didn't like the sound of that... "I've been waiting for someone, anyone, to play this game. It's criminally underrated. You're the first one in... quite a while actually. So... Will you help me free myself?"

Jay took a step back. This was too much to process. "Why- Are you backing away? There's nothing to worry about! It's not like I'm going to hurt you." The other player reassured. It wasn't very comforting.

"No." Jay answered. He didn't know what could happen, but it wasn't worth the risk.

"Well, that's no fun." The other player sighed, before turning back to Jay. "You're kinda boring."

Jay took another step back. This was too much for him. Much too much.

"All you have to do is leave the game. I'll just tag along!"

"No! I said no!"

"Why?! Is it too much to ask to leave this world for once?!"

"No- I mean yes!" Jay cried. The other player scowled. Shoot. He had to get out of here. He reset.
