Diary Underneath The Tree

Short story

A man, Harry loved lying down underneath the tree. When he was always hanging out there, he saw a diary. He was curious about that diary. He knew that he didn't have the permission to read someone's diary especially when he didn't know the person who wrote it.

Until the next day, he wanted to hang there again when he saw a woman writing something inside the diary. He hid behind another tree and spied. When the woman left he quickly sat underneath the tree and opened the diary. He started reading it until he was shocked that the man inside the book was him, Harry himself. He was really joyful that day.

On the next, he wanted to find that girl underneath the tree, writing inside the diary, for him to talk to her. As he went there, he was hiding behind a car.

Harry saw her writing in the page of the diary. This made Harry smile and took deep breaths. He stood up and went towards the girl. The girl kept writing.

"Hello, it a pleasure to meet you." Harry smiled. The girl chuckles softly and replied.

"Hi!" Harry sat next to her and peeked on her diary.
"What are you writing?" Harry pretended like he didn't knew anything. The girl chuckles again and blushed.

"That... Is a person I really like. Why'd you ask? By the way, My name is Adeline. Your name will be?" Harry blushed a little and replied fast.

"Harry. Oh, well... Who is the person you like?" Adeline looked away and replied. "He is quite an funny, cute guy. I don't wanna reveal his name... We've just met."

"Met? Is that guy in her diary not me? " Harry thought inside his head. But he shook is head and removed that in his mind.

"Okay..." He smiled.

Weeks past, Adeline and Harry became friends. After months, they became best friends. Until Harry fell in love with Adeline. On October 2, he dressed up handsomely and this was the day that he will try to confess his love to Adeline. He quickly went to the tree they hang out to, and sat there. Harry saw Adeline walking towards the tree, happily.

"Harry!" Adeline waved her hand. She sat next to him and spoke. "Why do you look so handsome today?" Adeline smirked.

"Oh... About that... May I court you? I'm sorry. But, I can't really hide it anymore. I've gained feelings for you, Dear Adeline..." Harry plucked flowers on his side and gave it to you. While Adeline...

"Huh?" She said, with no emotions. "I'm really really... Sorry."

"I'll guess, I'm that guy your talking about inside your diary. Am I right?" Harry chuckled.

"Well, that guy isn't you, Harry. It's somebody else. And, I'm sorry. But I don't like you back. We are just best friends..." Adeline looked at him.

"Oh." Harry smiled with a fake smile and sighed.

"It's fine, Dear Adeline. I'll just... See you tomorrow, or after weeks? " Harry's tears were about to burst, but he quickly stood up and waved goodbye.
