Izuku opened his eyes when he was nudged by Katsuki's nose. It was early morning, as indicated by the faint light filtering through the cave's door, but that wasn't why he had been woken up.The scent of food wafted into his nose, and he blinked at the deer leg Katsuki had brought him, dropping it on the floor for him to eat.

Katsuki didn't look like he was in a hurry, just that he wanted Izuku to eat

He had hunted for him.Yawning, Izuku stretched before shaking his head. Humans would find this action cute if they had seen it.Instinctively, he tried to express gratitude by nuzzling Katsuki on the neck, an area that showed complete submission. But before he could fully complete the gesture, he froze.His ears twitched, and his tail tucked between his legs as he took a step back, anticipating a growl or a snap.

The werewolves in his previous pack would often bite him roughly on the neck when he didn't do a good job at hunting.Closing his eyes, the hunger left his body, replaced by a fear of punishment for behaving in a way that was too mate-like with Katsuki. Their first meeting had been the same, with Izuku trying to be close to Katsuki, only to get hurt.He showed his neck, bracing himself for the harsh bite and snapping teeth. The furless spots around his neck, which had never healed right from their bites, served as a painful reminder.But the expected aggression never came. Instead, he felt Katsuki's tongue gently licking those scars, just as it had once healed his leg wounds.

Blinking, Izuku tilted his head, visibly confused. There was no aggression; instead, he was met with compassion.Katsuki urged Izuku to eat quickly by pawing at the meat and settling down to watch him, in Katsuki's pack, you offer the food you hunted because you care about themThe smaller wolf stood there confused, giving the meat tiny licks trying to see if his form changed to aggression but katsuki seemed to find it more strange than anythingWondering what was taking him so long to eat when he was probably starving, not knowing izuku's fear was more powerful than hungerFor Izuku, this situation was incredibly confusing. He wasn't used to being fed; typically, he had to hunt down his own food or steal it when everyone was asleep.Tentatively, he gave the limb more experimental licks and bites, watching Katsuki closely for any reaction. He needed to make sure this wasn't some kind of joke and to reinforce the fact that Katsuki was willing to do anything for him.Katsuki finally got the cue and moved to guard the entrance, facing the trees, thinking if he didn't look at him then Izuku wouldn't feel like he was doing something wrongIzuku chirped softly, expressing gratitude, as he devoured the meal as quickly as he could. Soon, all that remained were bones, which he continued to gnaw on for the protein they contained.This run in the forest was exactly what they needed to deepen their understanding of each other.

It didn't mean their relationship was perfect, but it did break down barriers, especially considering how Katsuki now treated him.Approaching Katsuki cautiously, Izuku nudged him again, just to make sure he wouldn't be reprimanded for daring to touch him. But instead of showing any signs of irritation, Katsuki's ears twitched, and he sniffed Izuku's face before licking it, appearing at peace with himself.The distance they had to maintain hurt them both. Izuku nudged Katsuki repeatedly, loving that he could do this to someone without getting punishedHe had never felt someone else's warmth like this before, and Katsuki's instincts recognized that evident in the rapid wagging of Izuku's tail.

After they lay down together for a while, Katsuki nipped at Izuku's shoulder, indicating his pent-up energy and desire to run.He wanted to run with Izuku.

Understanding dawned on Izuku, and just as he was about to walk toward Katsuki, confused about what to do next, the alpha pounced on him, knocking him down onto the soft grass.

Izuku was utterly confused, whining softly as he licked Katsuki's snout.He had never had the chance to play with others before and didn't quite understand what most games involved.
