"no buts, i was a dick to you and you didn't deserve it."
mason scoffed as he smiled, "alright, i didn't deserve it. neither did you. are we friends again?"
"yeah, we're friends."

"so uh, what happened to that girl?"
mason looked down, they had left the others watching the movie while they sat in the kitchen eating snacks. "i didn't like her. she didn't like me either so it wasn't a big deal."
"if you didn't like each other, why were y'all with each other?" valentina asked as she popped an apple slice into her mouth.
"i was tryna get over someone and so was she. didn't work for either of us."
valentina hummed, popping another slice into her mouth. mason looked at her, the dim light showing her features slightly. he thought she looked beautiful in this light. he sighed, lowering his head.
"Val?"
"yeah?"
"did you ever like me? even just a little bit?"
the girl smiled a bit, "yeah, i did. did you?"
"i liked you before i even met you."
