Hello all, my name is Thomas Dawson. You may recognize my name from a lot of medical research done in 2015 but if not let me tell you.

In December, 2014 I was studying for my semester final when I became incredibly ill. I was throwing up constantly and had horrible stomach pain that was so concerning that I went to the emergency room where they ran tests on me. Everything came up that I was completely healthy so there was no reason for the stomach pain and violent nausea. The doctors suggested that they do an ultrasound to see if what was going on was internal. As they did their ultrasound they made a discovery that would change not only the course of my life but the rest of history. They discovered that I, a cis born male, was pregnant.

I remember that they asked me a ton of questions, most of them I didn't have an answer to. Eventually they contacted a team of researchers who were able to devote the next 9 months of their lives and medical knowledge to watching over my condition. I was brought over to a hospital in the city and that's where I met Dr. Winston Howard. Winston was an OB doctor in the team of researchers who also had a degree in psychiatrics but had signed onto my case because he found it incredibly intriguing.

I remember my first day as their test subject. I got poked and prodded all morning. "Heart rate normal, blood pressure is good, we're gonna run a blood test and we're going to need a urine sample so whenever you need to go." Said one of the doctors as he held up a urine sample cup. I was not pleased to be here but knew that with such a strange situation at hand, it was only necessary.
"How are you feeling? Do you need anything?" Asked Winston as he stood next to me taking my vitals.
"A glass of water would be nice." I said as he smiled softly at me.
"Of course, I wouldn't want you and your baby getting dehydrated." Said Winston as he looked at one of the nurses and they rushed out. "Are you hungry at all?" Asked Winston as he sat down on a stool.
"Even if I was it wouldn't stay down." I said as Winston sighed.
"I know but you should try to eat something, we need you and your baby to be healthy." Said Winston as I huffed.
"Yeah me and my baby." I scoffed and hung my head. "What if I don't even want to keep it?" I asked as Winston sighed.
"Well that is your choice but we do need you to go through with the pregnancy. Mr. Dawson you're the first cisgender man to ever become pregnant, this discovery can open doors for the transgender community, for the medical field, for the entire world! I know it's not going to be pleasant but please think of the rest of the world and what doors you can open for the rest of the world." Said Winston as I didn't want to agree with him but something about him just made me sigh and go along with it.

The room I was staying in wasn't just a hospital room it was what they called an observation room, there were cameras in the corners of the room but other than that it was a normal hospital room. Usually I sat around watching television or sitting on my phone looking at social media in between tests and scans. Sometimes Winston would come and check on me because he was the only person on the team of researchers that had a degree in psychology so they wanted him to make certain that I was doing alright mentally and emotionally as well as physically because all their research would be for not if I decided to take my own life midway through the pregnancy. "So how have you been feeling today?" Asked Winston as he sat with me.
"Honestly I've really come to like it here." I said as he smiled and something about his smile made me happy.
"Really? Your first week you were completely miserable, what changed?" Asked Winston as I laid back.
"I mean what's not to love, I need to study for school anymore, I don't have my parents breathing down my neck about graduating with honors, and the best part is no one knows I'm here so I'm completely at peace with no worries and no anxiety about what everyone is thinking about me." I said as I put my hands behind my head.
"Huh, your life must've been pretty hard before all of this?" Asked Winston as I scoffed.
"Hard isn't the word for it." I said as I sighed and leaned forward. "When I was in elementary school my test scores were higher than any other kid in my school so they gave me an IQ test and that's when my parents discovered that I had an IQ of 185." I said as Winston blinked.
"Really?!" He asked as I nodded.
"Yeah... I hate it when people talk about so please don't make a big deal out of it." I begged him as he nodded.
"No, of course, continue." He suggested as I nodded.
"But ever since they found that out I've been stuck studying every academic subject under the sun! I thought I'd finally have a break when I told them I wanted to join the swim team but that just added an exercise regimen and a diet to the list of reasons I hate my parents. It was a real shame too, I really did like swimming. It's low impact exercise, nice on the muscles and joints." I said as I sighed. "I'm 23 years old and I still let them boss me around and tell me how to live my life." I said as I put my knees to my chest but then looked over at Winston. "That's why I like it here. Sure I'm you're fucking lab rat but at least when I'm in my cage, I love how I want not how my parents insisted." I said as I smiled softly and Winston smiled too.
"Come with me I want to show you something." Said Winston as he stood.
"Am I allowed to leave this room?" I asked him as he smirked.
"Under a doctor's supervision, yes." Said Winston as I got up and followed him out of the room.
