Izuku and Iida both showered after eating, taking it turns. Izuku savoured the feeling of standing under the warmth of the shower, how the scent of Iidas body wash entangled in the steam around him.
He stepped out into the cool air of the bathroom,, shivering as it prickled at his skin, and was greeted by a neat pile of folded clothes. Iidas, no doubt. Sliding them over his body, he couldn't help but wonder if Iida had saw him while bringing the clothes. Did he look? Did he stare?
Fully dressed, Deku pulled open the door to the other boys bedroom only to find it empty. He heard hushed chatter coming from the hallways, a woman's voice he didn't recognise, and decided to follow it.
Sneaking down the hallway, he managed to catch some words, but nothing that could be put together. He settled near the door frame, just out of view.
"He can't stay here for much longer, aren't his parents worried?" The woman asked, Izuku could see her concerned expression as he stole a glance at the woman, wanting to match a face to the voice. Infront of her, unseen by Izuku, he heard a man speaking, Tensi.
"I know, mother, but he needs a place to stay." Tensi tried to reason with the woman, his mother, only to be met with the sorrowful shake of her head.
"I know, but for the sake of the boys parents, i think he should go home tomorrow."
The realisation set in, she was only saying that to be nice, a little voice in the back for his head whispered about how she desperately wanted Izuku to leave. He had stayed here under the guise that it was all right with the boys' parents. He knew it was a petty thing to get so upset about, but knowing that he was unwelcomed and a burden to their parents, he couldn't stop the tears from pricking at his eyes.
Izuku saw a slight glimpse of the blue hair coming towards the door and quietly returned to Iidas room, relived to find it empty.
Izuku was lost. He knew that going home would lead to unwanted punishments by his father for staying out far later than his 9pm curfew, Deku shuddered at the thought. He didn't have many friends at school and although he knew Mitsuki would welcome him in with open arms, the pain Kacchan would inflict onto him didn't make it worth while. He wasn't welcome anywhere...
Izuku was brought out of his thoughts by talking coming from outside the bedroom door. He was all ready getting kicked out, he thought, might aswell spare the shame of having to be told to leave.
He rested a heavy hand on the door handle before pushing it open, he stormed out of the room, ignoring the people trying to speak to him, ignoring the tears filling his eyes, ignoring how betrayed he felt and how hopeless he was...
After Izuku had left, he didn't look back, though the temptation of a warm place to sleep tonight had almost gotten the better of him. His feet carried him along the pavement until the smell of food filled his senses, his stomach rumbled, a cruel reminder that he had no money either.
Deku came to a stop on an empty, dim-lit, street. The shadows crawled and seemed to be chasing after his every move, curling around his ankles until he was fully enveloped in the darkness. The cool night air left goosebumps along Izukus forearms, he just hoped it wouldn't get too cold tonight.
