Adeline Morir had a terrible morning. Everyone has a bad morning occasionally. But not everyone gets hit by a bus on their way to submit extra credit assignments in a last-ditch attempt not to fail chemistry. So Adeline did have one of those exceptionally bad mornings life sometimes deals you.
Landing in a hospital with bad head trauma, stitches, and failing Chem all in one go, she is about to come face to face with a hospital bill and something much worse. As she took in the room, her thoughts still a bit foggy, she noticed him. A dark-haired man that appeared to be in his 20s, reading a magazine in the corner
As she tried to call for the nurse, her lips were dry and her throat parched. In the heat of the moment, she attempted to get out of bed disoriented, only to realize that one of her legs was broken. Weak and in pain, she reached out for the only person in the room. He nonchalantly slipped out of the chair just before she grabbed it for support. He looked over in contempt and said, "Uf. Not the smartest move." Only one thought went through her head, and she voiced it before she fell: "Asshole."
Annoyed by the man, who was now looking at her with an expression as if she said something profoundly ground-breaking, her headache got worse. The man and the room and the whole world drifted into a blur and then darkness.
Weeks later, she woke up sedated and slow, no longer in pain. To her surprise, the same tall man was still beside her bed. He appeared restless, wandering around like a child having an ADHD episode. Annoying. She sat up and noticed books beside her bed. She assumed someone had brought them, probably her parents. Flowers, white dahlias, were in bloom next to them.
The man turned around briskly. "I do suppose I do have an eternity, but you sure took your sweet time," a dark, fudgy voice said as he walked closer to the bed. Addy was confused. Who is he? Why is he in her hospital room? And why is his face suddenly so close to hers? And most of all why is he hell-bent on being the most agitating creature alive? He looked beautiful, but he had an unnatural quality that was terrifying. He took out his hand and grasped her cheek gently with one finger as if making sure she was real. A light shock came over her.
"Son of a bitch," she winced. He withdrew in pain as well. "It happened every time I tried that. Now I know you feel it from the other side too.Curious."
"What on earth is going on, who are you and why are harassing me?" She had so many questions, but the man was too busy inspecting his hand to answer. "Helloo," she said, still uncomfortably close to her, as if he had forgotten all human boundaries long ago. He turned to her slightly, acknowledging her presence. A heap of sunlight hit him as she noticed just how handsome the man standing over her was. His sharp jawline and old-time features exuded a catlike grace. Green dark eyes framed with slick dark hair glowed like a warning, like something simmering within them.
"Sorry, I forgot my manners. I haven't spoken to many people in the last few years, you see. Well, decades. Nickolas Foxtrot. But you, my darling, can call me Nick," he said with the enthusiasm of a charlatan. Something about this gorgeous man was off, uncanny valley. A glow about him, something feline-like and feral, almost like he wasn't real. "But there is no need for an introduction, darling, for I already know all about you, Adeline."
Hope you like the first chapter guys❤️ This is my first story here, and English is my second language so don't be too harsh on me. Tell me your thoughts and guesses in the comments and fave it for more. I update every week. Thank you so much for reading 💕😊✨️
