Chapter 10

"Meet my mother." Taehyung takes her to his mother as she offers the woman a bow and a smile.

"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Kim."

Sohee returns the smile. "Good to meet you too, Jisooya. And please like you said earlier, I don't want to have my soon to be daughter in law calling me Mrs. Kim. Doesn't it make us strangers?"

Glancing at Taehyung, Jisoo nods. "As you say so," she nervously bites her bottom lip when Sohee stares at her expectantly. "Mom."

"That's better. Awn, Taehyungah, your girlfriend is very lovely. I'm just sad that you didn't tell me before."

Almost as if she can sense who is coming to her way, Jisoo takes a huge step back subtly.

Taehyung frowns at her odd behavior but his confusion is instantly replaced by annoyance when Jungkook and his dad walk into their conversation.

"Welcome to our family, Jisoo." Jungkook's father, Jeon Jaehyun, says to Jisoo. "Glad that our Taehyung found a nice lady like you."

"I've been wanting to ask you this, what are you doing here, brother Jaehyun?" Sohee narrows her eyes as she assesses Jaehyun. "After all, Taehyung's engagement is less of your concern."

Jisoo looks at the way Jaehyun's expression turns stoic but he immediately pulls up a smile on his face before facing her. "She's going to be my niece as well, of course I have to come and see her. Am I wrong?"

Since his last question seems to be targeted at her, and no one in the conversation looks like they are going to care his speech at all, Jisoo beams at him kindly. "It is not wrong, uncle. You're Tae's family and I ought to greet you too."

At her answer, everyone's eyes land on her. She doesn't know if she had spoken out of line or offended anyone. Fidgeting on where she stands, she thinks of some words to say.

But Jaehyun's laugh saves her. "I like her. She's genuine and sweet. Something our family really needs."

His choice of words are mysterious. As if what he said have underlying truths that only the family members are aware of. So for an outsider like her who just arrived here, it is like she is in the maze, not knowing where to go.

"By the way, have you met my son?" Jaehyun turns to the guy beside him, who she has been trying so hard to ignore throughout the entire time. "Jungkook, why haven't you greeted a lady who is soon to be your sister?"

Jisoo wants to say it is no need as she had met him more than once. And none of them have a good moments that can even called an encounter. She is greatly embarrassed when looking at that guy.

Still in her own thoughts, she doesn't notice that her right hand is already in Jungkook's as he draws it near his lips.

She almost tug her hand, out of pure surprise.

"I'm Jungkook and honored to meet you, my lady." His voice sounds soothing and pleasing to hear, despite his nasty personality and a cheeky grin on his lips. Then, he plants a kiss, that doesn't feel like chaste and respectful at all.

Jisoo swallows thickly and retreats her hand awkwardly. "Me too." She whispers back.

Besides them, Taehyung hasn't moved his attention away and keeps his eyes strict on their interaction.

For two reasons. One, Jungkook can seemingly perceive their fake relationship as he saw them at hospital but strangely, the guy didn't say anything in front of his family. Taehyung had known him since they're born, of what kind of person he is behind that playful act. Two, he finds it unbelievable that Jisoo behaves differently around Jungkook.

Have they met before?

"This is your room to stay." Taehyung pushes the door open. And then scratches his head. "I hope you don't mind sharing a room with me. I have no choice since-"

"It's okay." Jisoo cuts him off and enters the room. She notices there are several bags near a huge closet. The ones Taehyung bought for her this morning.

"Lisa have put them inside the room." Taehyung clarifies for her as he closes the door. "I don't want them to judge you for what you wear, being my girlfriend. You can wear them anytime you like. They're all yours. Also, I have ordered the workers to make a space for your clothes. You can put them inside the closet as you prefer. There's a bathroom. And a bed that fits three person."

When she doesn't respond to him and gives him her back the whole time he talks, he feels like there's something wrong.

"If you don't want to share a bed with me, which I can assure you that I won't touch a single strand of yours-"

"Huh?" Jisoo turns to look at him, coming back to reality. "Oh, no need. I can take the side by the window and you can take the other. Sorry, it's just...so unreal for me. You know...to be inside such a magnificent room and mansion. I'm just not used to it."

"You will get used to it and trust me, everyone here is nice. All the workers have been with me since I was child. But if you somehow faced with someone who made you uncomfortable, you can tell me right away. I've promised you to meet your every comfort. I'm a man of my words, Jisoo. Knowing me for a long time, I'm sure you're aware of it."

Jisoo walks closer to him and clenches her hands together. "Thank you." She cranes her neck back to meet his eyes. "For everything. Really, I appreciate that. If not for you, I don't even know where I should go and ask help for my brother's hospital bills. You are a very nice guy, Taehyung. I'm so grateful for your help. Since this is all I have, I'll try my best to help you gain your family's trust. And hopefully find Jennie back too."

Taehyung stares down at her without blinking his eyes as this is probably the first time she has ever spoken gently to him.

When he is about to open his mouth, she astonishes him by her bright and soft smile.

"Thank you."

She has heart-shaped lips and when she smiles, her lips form into actual heart shape with full white teeth displaying. He thinks he is daydreaming when the evening sunlight streams through the windows and reflects at her back, like a halo.

Taehyung can't find a word to describe how enchanting she looks right now. She makes him feel something.

And it's intangible.
