An Unexpected Romance

Chapter One

       The night only grew colder as Maya Fairhaven waited for her target to come home. Being the head vampire assassin in The Guild, she is the most feared and respected member. No one will cross her when she is mad, for that would cost them their life.
       The target gets home at exactly 12:45a.m. every night. Maya checks her watch, fifteen minutes. She had come early so she could set up in the guest bedroom and wait. One more look at her watch told her that he would be home any minute. She would wait until he went to bed to take him out and then leave, leaving behind no trace that she had been there.
        Soon enough Scott Rogue, her target, enters the house. He goes through his normal, nightly routine and heads to bed. Maya attaches the silencer to her pistol and silently follows. Then, walking over to the side of the bed, she raises the gun and squeezes off two shots and then leaves the room.
       After she grabs her bag Maya leaves the house and heads to her own home. Upon arriving home, Maya resets the alarm to her security system, takes a shower, and heads to bed. It won't be until tomorrow that anyone will find him. Everyone will know who did it, and it will be front page news. They won't mention her by name though, they never do.
