"She was born to do something. Always!" her father yelled at her mother, causing Asteria to cower in fear. Asteria was the third born in the family, and got yelled at for everything. Her brother, Simon, heir to the family, was the only person her father ever loved. Tears streamed down her face hopelessly.

"She is just a child, we thought that the Luciani's wanted our daughter, but they decided to go for Ariene. The boy's mother made many rude, hurtful remarks about our daughter. Why is it Ria's mistake?" Her mother glared at her father.

"Well, Arie is a hundred times better than this," her father said, gesturing his hand toward her. Hatred was evident in her mother's eyes. Her mother was the only person who shielded her from her father.

"I will look after her, you can attend the event, George." She closed the door and sighed.

"Ria, you should sleep. You have your exams within 10 days. You have to ace them. You have to prove to them that you're a strong girl, and things like these wouldn't stop you." She gently caressed her hair and kissed her forehead.

"Sleep, my Cookie." She wiped the fresh tears and kissed her forehead again. With her mother's warm hand, she quietly drifted to sleep.

Henry Luciani, a ruthless man from a ruthless family, was forced by his mother to marry immediately. His mother approached the Clydes for their great reputation. Asteria's father, George, was unequivocally happy for the first time in her life, and promptly accepted the offer. Asteria was not given any option, but her mother Eva consoled her, saying she could study after marriage. That made her happy, as studying was one thing she was good at. Asteria had fought a great silent war to study after high school. Having her mother as her only support in the family didn't help much either. She wished one day her dad might look at her with love and hug her. This would be a very common thing in many families, but she knew it was a fat chance.

God might love to play with a wounded heart. She was happy that God sent this proposal, but her appearance thwarted it. Viviane Luciani, Henry's mother, was not happy with her to-be daughter-in-law's looks. The family was great, but Asteria was not drop-dead gorgeous, and Viviane wanted an astounding beauty just like herself. And then Ariene, Asteria's cousin, came into the picture.

True, Ariene was exquisitely beautiful with her long blond hair and unnatural deep blue eyes. She was an angel with a slender body to die for. While Asteria was curvy with honey-brown eyes. Her hair was as messy as her relationship with her father. No matter what she did, it would stay that way. Just like her father, Areine's father immediately accepted the offer and arranged a family gathering to announce the great news.

Asteria starved herself, cussing her curves, her hair, and her whole body. After three days of dehydration and self-abuse, her body finally gave away and she was hospitalized on the day of the ceremony. She was so happy inside that she missed the event. She thought her life would go back the same way as before.

Oh, the bliss of ignorance about the future was indeed a great blessing from heaven. For now, she would focus on the exams and scores, but the dreadful future loomed.

Yes, Henry Cavil is my muse, my virgin soul is obsessed with this man beyond words. I genuinely love to hear your suggestions. This is my first one. And for the pictures I used, the credit goes to the original owner.
