August 25th - Day 5

You curl into a ball on your bed, and you can feel your breath quickening against your skin. You try to stay quiet, not wanting to wake Sana, but you can't seem to get your mind off him. Wooyoung's smile plasters your mind, and roughly, you dig your nails into your skin, a sob slipping out. He's gonna come back. He's gonna come back, okay? Your eyes squinch tight, fearing the worst.

Before you can completely spiral, you hear your door open. Jean-Pierre pokes his head in, gesturing for you to get up. He locks the door behind you, taking in your appearance.

"We're going to find him. What you're thinking happened didn't. I can promise you that much. He probably just got stuck somewhere." Jean-Pierre tries to reassure you. How can he know that? Miyoung would probably even lie to him. "Come on. I've got a guess as to where he might have ended up."

"Wait." He stops walking, turning back to you. "I'm not going unless I can bring someone else."

"You still don't trust me, do you?"

"I think it's wiser if I don't."

"Fine. Have it your way. Go on and get him."

Your feet hit wood panels as you walk across the docks. You glance over at San, who's doing a surprisingly good job of keeping it together. Jean-Pierre walks around, knocking on the shipping crates that tower all around you. "Do the same." He encourages. You and San fan out, knocking on one metal box after the other, though no sounds emanate from within.

Jean-Pierre sighs as you all regroup in the center. "I really thought that'd work." He admits, and you can see his attention being pulled toward the building in the middle of it all. He walks over to it, transfixed. "Stay behind me. And keep your head down." You nod, and he punches numbers on the keypad. "Shortie, have I ever told you my birthday's on the eighteenth of September. Born in nineteen sixty-six, if you can believe that." He pulls the door open, walking inside. "It's coming up soon if you are interested in getting me anything." That was weird. "Ava!" He calls to a woman walking down the hall. She turns back to see him, smiling.

"Jean. It's been a while." She says, flipping her clipboard so none of you could see the writing.

"I know. I feel awful. Managing everything over there has been hectic."

"I'm sure. Insu's been on edge lately. I'm guessing he and Miyoung are fighting again."

"Always seem to be. Never mind that, though. I wanted to ask if you'd seen a young boy pass through here. He's wandered from the other side of the island."

"Jeez. Another one!?"

"He's less feisty than the girl."

"That's good, at least." She grabs the radio mounted on her chest, pressing in the side of it. "Hey, Hank. Have you picked up anyone today?"

"No, ma'am." A man replies, his voice staticky.

"Sorry, Jean. Wish I knew more."

"There's still no camera system?" Jean-Pierre asks.

"Complain to Insu, not me. He promised them to me ages ago." She checks her watch to see the time. "Ugh, it's three already? I've got to finish this paperwork by four so I can at least get some sleep. It was nice seeing you, Jean. Sorry I couldn't have been more useful."

"That's alright. Thank you." He replies, and you all head back outside. "Sorry. I really thought he'd gone over here. We can look more in the morning. I can get you out of crafts tomorrow if I need to. Until then, you should get some rest."
