High School Life

Chapter 1

Elsa's POV

The alarm by my bed side table beeps right by me and I groan because today's Monday, the day I will be joining Burgess High School with my sister Anna and friends, Punzie and Merida. We all came from a school called Corona High but had to leave because of a certain somebody who I don't want to speak about. I wipe the sleepiness away from my eyes and slowly sit up, checking the time which is 6:20am.

I get up from my bed and grab my blue towel to take a shower. Once I am showered, I apply some light make up which is only some mascara and pink lip gloss which was hard to apply evenly to my lips.

I check the time on the clock on my bed side table and see that its now 6:55am which means I should probably wake up Anna, if shes not already awake.

I head into Anna's bedroom and don't even knock because I know if shes asleep, it would be useless and would be standing there for days! I'm really nervous about joining Burgess High because I cant never really fit in and get picked on my them 'popular' girls and even boys who judge me for pretty much everything. I walk over to her orange double bed and begin to wake her.

"Anna" I say softly and shake her shoulders slightly, making her move around and moan a bit. I giggle at her funny sounds and notice her alarm is smashed and the broken glass is in a fist mark, why would Anna break her clock? Maybe she was dreaming but then again I don't think she would dream about clocks and breaking them.

"Elsa!" Anna suddenly bursts into whimpers and calls my name, quickly sitting up with tear stains on her cheeks. Shocked, I comfortingly pull her in my arms and hug her. Anna is the same age as me, 16 but I am 9 months older than her because I was born on January 19th and she was born on June 19th. 

Anna continues to whimper quietly until I ask her whats wrong and pull away from the hug. She wakes up a bit more and wipes her eyes before speaking, "I-I had a nightmare about me, you and the girls joining Burgess High and h-he was there!" she explains between sniffs and stutters.

"Oh Anna, don't ever worry about that stupid guy! he has left our lives and we have a new start" I cheer her up and she weakly smiles at me. "Thanks sis" She says and stands up and we walk downstairs together to greet our mother who is making breakfast

"Morning girls" our mother greets us as we walk into the kitchen to wait for our pancakes which we have every morning. If you were wondering, our father went missing 2 years ago when he left for work one day but he never came home and the police closed the case 7 months ago. I don't want to think hes dead but somehow, there sees to be no other explanation.

Once me and Anna are sitting up the dining table, I make a conversation with her and get her mind off of the thing that ruined our lives. "So, you nervous for the first day?" I ask her nervously and she begins to think for a moment. "No, not really. I just don't wanna have to go through what happened last time" She explains and gives me a weak yet hopeful smile.

"Well Anna, this school is a new beginning for me, you, Punzie and Merida and we will let nobody take this happiness from us. I promise" I reassure her and she puts her arm around me but removes it when mother gives us our plate of pancakes each.

"Thanks mum!" We say in unison and mother smiles before walking upstairs, probably getting ready for her work which begins at 7am.

My phone beeps which means I have a message and its probably from either Merida or Punzie so I put my knife and fork down to read it.

Punzie: Hey Elsa! Just letting you know that me and Merida are at school already and are by the student office waiting for you and Anna so we can collect our schedules.

Elsa: Hey Punz! Just finishing breakfast. Be there in about 5 minutes in my car.

I close my phone and eat the remaining mouthfuls of pancakes and wait for Anna to finish hers so we can meet Punzie and Merida as soon as we can. Maybe starting a new school is an okay thing because me and the girls have had a bad start to high school and we wouldn't wanna end it like that either. I think it would also help me and Anna to cope with dads disappearance which would be very good for me but mainly Anna as it destroyed her.

"Finished" I hear Anna shout which takes me out of my chain of thoughts. I smile and see Anna still hasn't got dressed and I don't think she knows. "Anna! clothes" I say, slightly annoyed because I really wouldn't want to arrive late on my first day of school.

She runs up the stairs to get ready and I decide to check my school bag to make sure everything is there. "Hmm...book, phone, text books...." Perfect! Everything is here and Anna just arrived downstairs so I grab my bag and walk outside the house, not saying goodbye to mum because she is busy.

"Whose car we taking, sis?" Anna asks and looks at our cars. Mine is a light blue convertible VW Beetle and Anna's is a light green convertible VW Beetle . "Can we take mine?" I ask hopefully and Anna nods in agreement so we hop in my car.

"Ready?" I ask nervously and Anna smiles a bit and replies, "Ready" so I drive off to Burgess High to start our new high school life with Merida and Punzie.

~At School~

We finally arrive at the school car park and we park my car by the gates and quickly hop out. I lock the car and stand near Anna as we walk through the gates and into the school grounds. Nervous, I keep my head down and walk quickly past the other students who are staring at me and Anna's arrival. "Where are Punzie and Merida?" Anna asks quietly and looks at me with her bright green eyes timidly. I give her a reassuring smile and say, "By the Student Reception". Anna nods and we follow the signs which say where the reception is and we find it pretty easily.

"Anna! Elsa!" I hear a very familiar voice call out so me and Anna both turn round to face a very cheerful Punzie and a complaining Merida right behind us. Anna smiles and runs to them which makes me giggle as I just walk to them.  

"Hey girls" I hear Anna say happily to them and when I walk over to them, we all hug and walk to the student reception counter together. "How were the holidays?" asks Punzie to me and Anna so I gesture for Anna to tell the stories whilst I speak to Merida.

"Hey Merida, whats wrong?" I ask worriedly "You haven't spoken since we got here". Merida just looks at me and weakly smiles. "I just don't wanna end up like I was last time" she answers and looks at Anna and Punzie happily chatting away in front of us.

We finally arrive at the counter and Punzie goes first, then Anna, then Merida and its finally my turn to go up.

"Hi. Elsa Winters" I say and the lady, who has dark brown hair and glasses, smiles and begins to type my information on the computer. I wait patiently until I get pushed by something or someone which makes me land on the floor painfully. I hear somebody walking over to me and I suddenly feels like the choice of moving schools was never going to change my life.
