Crickets filled the night, gentle winds slowly weaving through the blades of grass and leaves of the sky scraping trees. The rain drops from a storm the afternoon before trickled gently into a stream, feeding into a wider river.

It narrowed then widened and narrowed again as it ran over rocks and turned into dangerous rapids, swallowing up any unfortunate enough to step into the rapids. But near that river bend as a small camp made up of a few families, and among them was yours.

It was a peaceful night..the world was at peace, the rushing river was your lullaby, and the moon was your watcher. A safe place, an ideal place to raise children on a planet haunted by the pain of a Stelleron in its past.

You tossed and turned in your little bed made up of soft blankets your mother knitted for you with your older brothers help. Along with soft pillows big enough for you to curl up on.

You opened your eyes, the roof of the tent there to greet you as you rubbed your eyes and slowly woke up. In the distance, perhaps, you could hear voices..

It didn't sound like any one voice, or like a group of people, but like multiple voices speaking one sentence. And you, as a child..weren't able to perceive that it could possibly be dangerous.

You could hear your moms voice.. Your fathers, so perhaps this is what coaxed you out of your tent. Outside, you saw the fire that had died after being left unattended for a few hours. All that was left were the smoldering embers.

You looked around. The camp was quiet since everyone else was likely sleeping. So, with no one to stop you, you followed the voices silently with childlike innocence glittering in your eyes.

"Mom? Dad?" You called out softly, not wanting to be loud and disturb the forest surrounding you. But the voices stopped for a moment before getting louder, "It is late, child.." it whispered back. The multiple voices were eerie but somewhat enticing. "You sounded like my parents.. I thought they were awake.." you muttered and stepped back.

"It is ok.. you can come closer." Your eyes widened, the source of the voice emerged from the trees above, a glowing white peacock. Its feathers glowed beautifully, like an elegant living picture. It's feathers draped down from the branches and sprawled across the ground.

You stared in surprise, reaching a hand out to touch her feathers. They were as soft as you would imagine a cloud to be, then, the regal being leaned down from the branch it sat perched on and poked the top of your head with its beak.

"What is you name, child?" she inquired, sitting straight up again as the gentle nighttime breeze weaved through her perfect white feathers. "Y/n..!" you smiled and touched her feathers again, child-like innocence glistening in your gaze.

The peacock tilted her head, her head feathers lifted up briefly before she cast her gaze back towards the camp. "It is late, you should return home." She urged and elegantly floated off the branch and onto the ground.

Her feathers wrapped around her briefly before she trotted towards the camp, her tails sprawled out behind her like a bride wearing a really long veil. You blinked owlishly before hurrying after her, being careful to not step on her feathers..
