Author Note :
I can see most readers want Sookook endgame. And there are a few who want Vsoo. But I think that will change in the future chapters since Taehyung gets more scenes with Jisoo and Jungkook barely shows up. (Which is intentional)
And yes, there will be many boombayah scenes.
Guess who that might be? 👀

"You're worrying too much."
Mrs. Bae says from the phone as Jisoo stands by the window and bites her fingernail anxiously.
"Jin is perfectly fine here. He just talked to us for a bit and went to sleep. I told you, Mr. Gu and I will take turns looking after him, didn't I? Besides, that rich guy has hired a personal nurse for your brother to watch him 24 hours. You need not to worry at all, Jisoo."
"Does he...talk about me?" She asks, expectation rolls up in her chest.
"Sadly no. Which I must say is a good thing. All he needs to do right now is getting fast recovery. He shouldn't be bothered about anything else. You know that right?"
"Yes, I do." She swallows down the urge to ask about her brother more as she knows the woman has a family and life to take care of as well. "Thank you so much, Mrs. Bae. I don't know how to thank you and Mr. Gu."
"You know what we want in return, Jisoo. We want you to be happy. And you have to realize that you are not alone."
The last sentence hits her hard that she suddenly gets emotional and tears up. At least, nice people like them are still around her and she shouldn't take them for granted.
"Is that Mrs. Bae?"
Jisoo gasps and turns around as the sudden presence of a person startles her since she's on the verge of crying.
"Taehyung..." She sighs in relief knowing it's him. "Um, yes."
"Is Seokjin okay?"
"Yes. She said he just fell asleep and nothing to worry much."
"That's good then." He says while pacing around the room. "Oh and it's time for dinner. Grandma wants you to be downstairs."
Jisoo checks the time and it's pretty early for rich people to have dinner. She believes it's because of his Grandma.
"Alright." When she steps towards the door, he isn't coming along with her. "Wait, you aren't going?"
He is about to sit down on his work table. "Huh? I'm not that hungry and I don't eat this early like them. Grandma is so crazy about wanting every single person to present at the dining table."
Jisoo blinks rapidly in disbelief. "What? You can't be serious. I just got here and you want me to eat together with them who I barely know? What if they bombard me with questions about us?"
Licking his lips nervously, Taehyung straightens himself. "You're right. I apologize."
"Come on."
She rolls her eyes at him before leaving the room first. He rubs his face and sighs and then chases after her.

"Here they come." Sitting at the head of the dining table, Grandma smiles excitedly as Jisoo walks closer to them. "Sit here, Jisooya." She pats the chair on her right which Jisoo bows and does as she said.
"What about me Grandma?" Taehyung asks jokingly, seeing how his Grandma is so fond of Jisoo more than him over a day.
Causing everyone at the table to chuckle.
"You've been sitting next to me since you're a child, Tatetae." Grandma shakes her head and then gestures him to take the one on the left.
"Isn't it the first time our Taehyung comes to eat with us without Mother needing to send a maid to his room?"
Kim Mingyu, the father of Taehyung, who just arrived at the mansion from work, approaches them with a smile.
"Honey, you're back." Sohee stands up to take her husband's briefcase and then hands it to the maid. "Prepare a plate for your Master."
Jisoo looks at Taehyung and the latter nods at her, telling her silently it's okay.
"Ah, you must be Taehyung's girlfriend." Mingyu's eyes widen as he pushes the chair beside Jisoo.
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Kim. I'm Jisoo." She once again bows gently to show the man respect and decides to do it by standing up but the man stops her.
"It's okay. It's okay. Seeing how you are seated right next to Mother, you've probably earned her trust." His laugh vibrates in the dining room and he looks at Jisoo up and down. "Taehyungah, your girlfriend is indeed a beauty."
Taehyung acquiesces. "Yes, she is."
"Now, let's have the dinner." Grandma announces and the maids begin to serve them the meals.
Not used to with the way she is getting treated like a noble, Jisoo whispers to the maid. "I'll do it myself, thank you." The maid glances at her masters and smiles stiffly before giving her the bowl.
Finally, she doesn't have to just sit tightly and waits for the maids to do all the things that she can do by herself. She leans forward and asks Grandma. "Grandma, do you want some?"
Grandma, who has been watching her behaviour the whole time, smiles and nods once. Happily, Jisoo puts the meals in Grandma's plate. Then, Grandma waves at the maid to leave them be as they all stand by from a bit far. Jisoo asks her what she wants and picks up the bowls to fill her plate.
"I have a question for you." The voice comes from Sohee as she stops chewing and stares at Jisoo and the way she is trying so hard to get on Grandma's good side.
Jisoo puts her spoon down. "Yes?"
"Where is your parents?"
"Mom." Taehyung quickly warns his mother.
"What? I just want to know my daughter in law's family. Also, we can't rush the wedding without having both parents agreement. This is not how it usually goes. Are you neglecting your family's tradition because you're blindly in love?"
Jisoo clears her throat. "It's okay, Tae." She looks at Sohee. "As you can already tell, I'm different from Tae. While he grows up with love and support from you all, I grow up taking care of myself, alone. And yes, I don't have any elder who can show up in my parents stead. I hope you can understand me. But I have a younger brother, though, he is now hospitalised because of gang abuse." She blinks her eyes frequently to hold her tears. Her brother's wounded face appearing in her vision. As she continues, "My background is quite hard for me to bring up so Tae is just worried that talking about it can evoke my sentiments. But it's fine, really. I should tell you about my family too, if I'm going to be apart of this family in the future."
The table falls into sheer silence.
Jisoo jumps a little when someone holds her hand on the table. Grandma is looking at her in sympathy. Although this is not a lie that she said to gain pity from them, she feels guilty to face Grandma. She seems like a very good and kind person and Jisoo feels really bad to deceive her.
"Your life must have been very harsh, Jisooya." Grandma clenches her hand tight. "But it's okay. Because from now on, You're going to have a new family. Us." Her words may be simple and just to tender her pitiful existence, Jisoo can't pretend that it, in fact, aches her heart.
Whenever she thinks of her life, Jin always comes first. Not even herself. But she is trying her best to stay sane and live this pathetic life full of misery and pain, while her brother is giving up on his own hating her for the sacrifices she makes.
Now that she is surrounded by the rich people who she used to hold strong abhorrence as the result of unfairness, she doesn't know what to do anymore. Is she being prejudiced? Or the world is not like how she is perceiving?
With a deep sigh, she lets her eyes roam around the room for a brief moment, and realizes he is not here.
