September 1st 1989, King's Cross Station.

-BOTH THE BLACK TWINS were in platform 9 3/4 with their uncle Lucius Malfoy, a pureblood wizard from one of the most powerful and influential families in the wizarding world, with his wife Narcissa and their son Draco. Arabella and Leo were now 11 and were to start their first year at Hogwarts, while their cousin -who they considered as their little brother- Draco was only 9.

Arabella noticed the other families on the platform and saw parents saying goodbye to their children showing all sorts of affection that Arabella and Leo were strangers to.

Surely Narcissa has been a great aunt to them and the closest thing they had to a mother, who made sure they knew she loved them as her own, but never in public, one could not blame her, growing up in the Noble House of Black, there was no place for a thing such as love.

Lucius, on the other hand, wasn't an affectionate person by nature, but he loved his niece and nephew -even though Arabella doubted that sometimes- and had his own ways of expressing that, none of these ways included public fondness -or fondness in general- as he had to always keep the pureblood supremacist appearance.

But the twins never complained, they considered themselves lucky enough to grow up in a stable family after the tragedy that happened to their parents nearly 10 years ago.

They were bidding their last goodbyes to the Malfoys before boarding the train in a quite hidden spot in the platform as their uncle Lucius, such the pureblood purist he is, didn't want to approach muggleborns too much, even being seen with them is an insult, he argued.

Narcissa was fixing, or rather trying to fix the mess Leo's hair was, and once it looked more adequate, she faced the two and said «Alright, you should get on the train now. Just know that we'll miss you both dearly, and write to us anytime, alright? And I would like it if you don't cause trouble, especially you young man» she looked at Leo with a stern look but Arabella could see the small smile tugging on her lips.
Leo shrugged with a chuckle and said «I'll try not to but I can't promise you anything, Aunt Cissy»
she shook her head amused at the boy and turned to his sister «Please make sure he won't do anything careless, or at least that we do not hear about it» she asked the girl whom she considered as her daughter before nodding and regaining her posture.

Arabella smiled at her mother figure before saying «I'll look after him.» Narcissa smiled at the girl gently and did the same for Leo while Arabella went to hug Draco.

«I'll miss you a lot, Dray.» the young blonde hugged his sister back tightly and said «I'll miss you just as much, Bella. Write to me often please»

The young girl's features softened and said «I promise» she smiled at her younger brother and went to her uncle who had his usual stern look on his face.

She approached him and said «Goodbye uncle, we'll see you at Christmas».

The older man nodded and claimed «I expect you to behave well and get sorted in the right house, and write to us after you do.»

She knew exactly what he meant by this statement, even though he did not say it out loud "Get sorted into Slytherin, do not approach muggleborns or blood traitors, remember your status, do not fail us" she nodded at him without muttering another word and grabbed her trunk and cage where her black cat, Ivy, was sleeping oblivious to the noise of the platform around her.

She heard Leo say something to Draco that sounded like «Don't have too much fun without us» before doing the same as his sister and heading to the train while waving goodbye to the Malfoys.

While Arabella had a cat, Leo's pet was an owl named Nyx. He didn't fancy animals that much, so he opted for an owl so that they could send letters to their family. They both boarded the train and went to look for an empty compartment to stay at. After 10 minutes of looking, they finally found one and sat opposite each other.
