The next day, Sunday, was actually pretty fun. I went out to the city with Mandy, Julie, and May. We went shopping and sight-seeing. Julie and May were actually really nice people and they were super funny. Anyway, when we finally got home it was around dinner time.

We walked in the house and it was super crowded with a bunch of people and music was playing.

"What's going on?" Julie said to her fiance, who was a few feet away talking to someone.

"We invited some people over, but it turned into this," he said, "but whatever. Its a party!"

Julie rolled her eyes and said, "okay, I'm getting a drink."

The three of us followed her over to the kitchen where there were random bottles of alcohol everywhere. We each poured each other excessive shots and took them at the same time. It burned my throat but felt good. I went to get more.

After a while of drinking and laughing, someone grabbed my arm and dragged me into the living room. I think it was May. "Were gonna play spin the bottle!" she said.

I was seated in a circle with May, Julie, even Fran was there. But everyone else were random party goers who I didn't know. I looked to my right and Hamzah was sitting next to me.

"Hi," I giggled. Everything just seemed really funny.

"Hi," he said.

"Okay!" Said May. She was sitting to my left and was holding an empty beer bottle in her hand. "Lia, you start."

I took the bottle from her hand and placed it in the middle of the circle. "Go!" Julie giggled.

I spun the bottle and watched as it turned into a green blur. It began slowing down until the nozzle end landed to my right. I looked over and my eyes met Hamzah's.

As we looked at each other, I realized that we had to kiss. I know that's the point of spin the bottle, but we had to because everyone I knew in this circle thought we were dating.

It would be awkward but whatever. I leaned in and kissed him. I guess being drunk lessened my nerves.

It was a second before I pulled away. He looked surprised but had some other look on his face that I couldn't name. "Yay!" May said, clapping her hands. "Me next" someone random said.

"I'm gonna go get a drink," Hamzah muttered, and he got up, walking towards the kitchen.

My mood immediately fell. Why did I do that? Obviously he didn't like it and now things would be awkward. I looked around the circle and made eye contact with Fran who narrowed her eyes at me.

I decided to follow him. I got up from the circle without saying anything and went to the kitchen. I saw him there just standing by the counter.

"Hey," I said. He looked over at me and I immediately blurted out, "I shouldn't have done that. I just thought that we should kiss cause everyone there thought we're dating. But I'm sorry, I should've thought of what you-"

"Stop," he said, cutting me off.

"You didn't make me uncomfortable. I just left because-" He glanced down at my lips. And it was such a quick look that I'm not even sure if it happened. "-It was a good kiss," he finished.

"Oh," I said. I don't really know what he meant by that, but I was just glad that I hadn't weirded him out.

It was silent for a moment, and he just looked at me really oddly. "Are you single?" He finally said.

"What?" Such a weird question. "Obviously I'm single, you think if I had a boyfriend he would be okay with me pretending to date some other guy and go on vacation with him?"

He sighed. "I guess that's true."

"Why do you ask?"

"...no reason."

I shook my head. "You are so weird"
