Jane stayed locked in her room for a whole week. She would look out the window for the Hughes car. Jake's mother had come to visit a lot this last week, and that's why she hid in her room.

Her mother would just tell her soon to be mother-in-law that she was sick. It was a Friday afternoon. The sun hung in the sky and lit up the day. Jane laid bored on her bed. She watched her laptop and contemplated on whether she should start drafting her 5th book of her Phoenix series.

What her parents did not know about their daughter was that she was a very famous writer who wrote under a pseudonym. Phoenix was her name. She had written a total of 3 series and is currently busy with her most famous series. Phoenix, which had been turned into a TV series. Her mother also follows the series and never misses an episode. Sometimes, she just want to tell her that she is watching her show but stops knowing that they'll never be happy with what she does. Joshua could share whatever, and they would still be proud of him. Jane lived in the shadow of her brother, and it bothered her.

Her mother always compares the two and always finds a way to bring Jane down. She never held any resentment towards her twin. She knew it was never his fault, but their parents'.

In their eyes, Jane was a failure, and that's why they had to get rid of her. They passed her onto a rich man so that they could cover up her lack of success.

Joshua was the golden boy. From as young as they were, it was always Joshua. Jane never mattered. If Joshua acted out, it was because there was something wrong, but whenever Jane acted out, it was cause she was seeking attention and being overly dramatic.

She remembered how she would study straight through the night and ran on 3 hours of sleep the next day. She made time for practice and competitions. She brought home more trophies, certificates, and medals than her brother, but none of hers is hung on the walls or in a display case. Hers gathers dust in the attic, whilst her brother's gets the recognition and attention. Her parents would be at every game Joshua played, even if he was benched the entire game. They stayed and supported him. She had to go to hers alone, or sometimes with her chauffeur, Nicholas.

No one ever checked on her. They would notice something was wrong but would choose to ignore it. Whenever she fell ill, the maid had to look after her. When Joshua sneezed, they would rush to the doctors.

Her eyes glistened with tears. She remembered that one time, they celebrated Joshua's birthday and did not care about hers the next day. She received prensents, and that was it. They were born on different days. Their mother went into labor with them and gave birth at 11:57 pm with Joshua, and gave birth to Jane at 00:02 am.

Her tears ran down her cheeks as all these memories came rushing back. Jane found herself sitting on her windowsill, staring absent-minded at the clouds.

"Jane. Mrs Hughes are here to see you." Her mother popped her head inside her room. She saw her daughters tear stained cheeks and chose to ignore it. "Put on something elegant and come down." She said before she closed the door.

Jane gave the outside world another glance and analyzed the weather. She put on a pair of black jeans and a cropped tee. She draped her black leather jacket over her shoulder.

She grabbed her phone and stored it in the back of Jean's pocket. She ties her white Adidas shoe laces and heads for the door. Before she exited her room. She grabbed her black baseball cap and left. She descended the stairs and walked past the living room, straight to the door. She opened the door and heard her mother calling out to her. Jane slammed the door shut behind her.

"Alexa?" She held the phone to her ear.

"Sup, babes, what can I do for ya?" Alexa answered.

"Is that villa still available?" Jane asked, hoping, praying that she would say yes.
