After working for the company and being the head office for 3 years, Nari was once again prompted to a much high position, meaning a relocation. She was leaving in 3 days.
The idea of leaving was a bitter sweet taste to her. She was going to have to leave behind her best friend, Kyung.
Nari and Kyung had been best friends since high school, but after having a serious job. The relationship with one another began to decline. Kyung was workaholic, and didn't really want to spend his free to time with his friends or family, so when the day had came to announce her departure. She practically had to beg him to have dinner with her in order to explain her new position and relocation. Kyung has a pretty busy, tight schedule, so it was impossible for them to meet and hang out with one another, but in the end, he accepted her offer and agreed to have dinner with her.
The day had finally came, It was a date with her best friend, Kyung. Nari had got off work early so she could prepare for her leaving in 5 days.
When she open the door to her home she quickly got dressed into her nice black and white dress, hair curled, and a pair of 2 inch black heels to go along with her dress.
Arriving at the restaurant, she found Kyung already had a table ready for them. "Sorry, did I make you wait?"
"No, you're just on time."
She sat down a crossed from him, staring into the menu, contemplating on which meal to get. Before long, Kyung spoke up again, asking her a question. "How have you been?"
"I've been well... How is work and everything?" She questioned him, putting down the menu.
"Very stressful." Was all he said when the waiter came to asked for their orders, then quickly came back with their meals.
"Well, if it's stressful, maybe you should take a few days off..." She stated, moving her food around.
"You know I can't. My job is too serious to just ask for a few days off."
"Oh, I see..." She said in a hoarse tone.
She felt as if her mouth and throat was dried, so she picked up the glass of water, drinking it when Kyung's phone began to ring. He smiled and pick up the call right away. Nari noticed and sighed, knowing the call was about work. She felt as if the call was much more exciting and better than this so called date.
He set the phone down after the call had ended, and told her that it was about a few paperwork that needs to be edit. She sighed once again before getting up and glancing down at him. "I've had enough of this."
He looked at her confused. "What?"
"I've had enough running towards something I can never reach." She placed the money down the table as tears filled her eyes.
All Kyung could do was look at her in confusion as he watch her leave, walking out the door. When Nari got out the door, she looked back. It was the biggest mistake she had ever made. He was on the phone once again, talking casually as if the date and her leaving had never happened.
She drove home as it began to pour. When she got home, she quickly dashed inside, but was still drenched even after her attempt. Closing the door, still drenched, she slumped down to the floor. She stayed on the floor until she felt her clothes clung tightly to her body. She went into her room to changed into dry clothes and plopped on her bed.
