***PRESENT DAY
Molly's POV***

"So throw my hands up to play my song, you know I'm gonna be okay, yeahhhh"

"It's a party in the USA," my ride share driver silently mumbles along to the Miley Cyrus lyrics.

I intently and impatiently stare at the clock on my driver's dash board. I'm growing dizzier and more anxious as time seems to increase.

It's 10:45...I'm 45 minutes late to work.
I've put myself in this current, unfortunate situation on a Saturday of all days.

My stupid bike got a flat tire and for some idiotic reason in me, I walked it back home for 2 miles. Not only that but I lived in a city full of hills. Loved it for its aesthetic and its beautiful golden bridge but I held a personal hatred for the traffic.

Paris, city of love.

Vegas, city of angels.

San Francisco? Hills.

Riding my bike was practically what saved my ass in this city. I wasn't going to go through the trouble of driving a car when transportation was easily accessible. For a cost, sure. But I relied on my bike to take me to the places I needed to go to....and Harry.

Now, I definitely realize I could've left her alone and saved on time but I was emotionally attached to Gretchen, I couldn't do that to her. She needs me.

Slowly, anxiety begins to crawl over me at the thought of walking into work this late. Unfortunately, this would be the 3rd time I'm late and I'll never get to hear the end of it once my manager sees me. She's already written me up twice in two separate occasions. One of those was me being late. And the other, we don't really need to talk about. And just my fucking luck, my driver was the slowest I've ever encountered in the universe of rideshare apps. We've been in the middle of the road going at least 10 mph for the past 15 minutes.

I clear my voice awkwardly before speaking out in the backseat.

"Sir, do you think we're going to make it past 11:00? I'm already really late."

He ignores me. not giving me a response. I only have a glimpse of the back of his nicely shaved head and nothing more.

How to they get those so shiny?

"Like who's that chick that's rockin' kicks," he mouths silently as I watch the rearview mirror "She gotta be from out of town"

I hold in a huge breath and look out at the Victorian houses we slowly drive by as I wait for what he has to say- if he says anything at all. I began to think he didn't hear me until his eyes dart from the rearview to me at least 10 times and I finally hear the sound of his voice.

"You chose to live here," He mumbles.

"I'm sorry?" I squint at him.

"You chose to live in San Francisco, you get the shitty traffic," he shrugs.

I'm awestruck as I let out a dry laugh. "There's nobody in front of us."

"Should've ridden a bike like everyone else in the damn city then," he responds.

"I- you know what Michael, you're not getting a tip with that damn attitude," I say, "Let me out of this car please."

And before I know it, as soon as the car comes to a rough and angry halt, I'm running out of the vehicle.

I've walked though this city endless times, I try my best not to run into traffic and from the corner of my eye, I see a tiny figure waving hello happily to me and as I get closer, I recognize the little being.
