Right now, I'm finding myself somewhere in a different dimension, in a different galaxy, As I'm lost in the world of Dreams. I see my younger seven year old self walking towards my mother in a crowded area with so much noise that my little hands have wrapped themselves around my ears, as my tiny feet proceed to take a step ahead, my mother keeps on going further away. Her very peculiar look has me puzzled. She keeps on moving away from me. The hubbub keeps on getting louder and louder until i hear a rather louder sound of my roommate screaming at me.
"Keryne WE ARE GETTING LATE" and to her scream i open my eyes to yet another rainy morning. I hate rain. I rushed my self out of the bed as I remembered that Me and Rory were to go to the library in the Transport Hub of the city of Gore. "We couldn't go last week too and you know how mad Janey was." I'm sorry I couldn't sleep last night and-" Rory interrupted me
"Do you think we have time for this right now?"
I got out of bed and got ready before Rory would come back and scream at myself. "Let's Go" Rory said . The elevator to our apartment has not been working for almost two days now. We live in the 21st floor and walking up and down has really been such a task. We almost reached the ground floor when we came across Ivo and Kyle. I've hated this person since kindergarten but something about his brown hair and green eyes that i just can't ignore. His friend Kyle and Rory broke up a year ago so it was awkward for all four of us perhaps this would've been avoided if i woke up soon. The four of us exchanged awkward smiles. As Rory and I tried to walk away as quickly as we could, Kyle stopped us. His blonde hair and tall stature had once impressed Rory, but their relationship had fallen apart due to his lack of commitment."Hey, guys, do you think you could give us a lift? We were headed to the transport hub. I'm pretty sure you are too since it's a Saturday," Kyle called out.My morning couldn't have been worse.
INSIDE THE SYLE
The Syle, a sleek cuboid-shaped flying car, hummed quietly as it glided through the air.
"So, how's the detective stuff going?" Kyle asked awkwardly.
"Keep your voice down, Kyle, there are people here," Rory hissed in response.
Ivo, looking disheveled and weary, shouted to provoke Rory, "What's the new task Janey has assigned you two?" He seemed like he hadn't slept in days, his once-bright green eyes now shadowed by dark circles. He had grown thinner, but his fraternity-oriented personality remained unchanged. Yet, something felt off about him beyond his appearance.
"We've both been promoted and finally moved to the paleontology section," Rory announced.
"Paleontology section?" Kyle echoed, looking puzzled.
"Yes, we're working on the 'Discovering Myuten' project now," I explained. "Rory and I gather samples with our team of paleontologists from isolated places around the world mentioned in Darthmore's theory of subterranean realms."
A heavy silence filled the Syle, stretching awkwardly until we landed at the transport hub.
Kyle works as a research scientist in the same detective agency as Rory and I. There are only 36 people in our agency 'WDAGC: Willow Detective Agency Of Gore City' funded by the prince of the city of Gore. Both Rory and I work as detective/archaeologist under the library of the Gore City Transport Hub as our agency is discreet by the orders of the prince. The laboratory where Kyle works is under the Syle parking lot in the transport hub. As Rory and I awkwardly said our goodbyes to Kyle and Ivo, a question nagged at the back of my mind. Why was Ivo with Kyle? The WDAGC is one of the most secretive agencies in existence, known only to a select few. If the royals were to discover that Kyle had brought Ivo along, it could cost them both their lives. Perhaps Ivo had secured a position in the research laboratory? Regardless, I had other pressing concerns to focus on as we made our way to the library.
We arrived at the hushed library where Janey had devoted over two decades to her role as a librarian as the detectives were in need of assistance to access the concealed underground office. The library was immense, housing an extensive collection spanning every genre imaginable. Despite its usual bustling activity, the autobiography sections 5-17 remained eerily Out of the seventeen autobiography sections, it was section 13 that held the key to our hidden office. To gain entry, one had to press against the wall in section 13. This wall, equipped with handprint recognition, would then activate a mechanism that transformed the surrounding bookshelves into four solid walls, enclosing the person within. Like an elevator, this structure would descend, transporting us to our secret office below.
As we were proceeding to section 13, A voice stopped us. It was the kind of voice that brooked no argument, smooth yet edged with an undercurrent of steel. She didn't raise it, yet it carried, a testament to its authority. Her eyes, icy blue and piercing, flicked over me briefly, assessing and dismissing in a single glance. There was an unmistakable air of expectation about her, as if the world naturally bent to her will. I couldn't help but feel a shiver of awe and intimidation. This was someone who was undeniably powerful. It was Janey.
