Brandon
"This is infuriating. It's pissing me off." Lan mumbles, annoyed.
"Here, let me do it." I walk to him, grab his half-done tie, and start doing the knot. I'm surprised he doesn't pull away, considering my twin brother is allergic to any type of affection.
I attempt to ease the tension when the silence feels too loud. "So, are you nervous?"
"Nervous?" He asks, looking offended. "I'm never nervous. I am Landon King after all."
He has this smug, self proud face and I can't help but smile at his confidence.
Finishing with the knot, I straighten his suit jacket around the neck.
"What do you-," I hesitate, rethinking my question. I let Nikolai convince me to stand my ground and confront him, but now I'm feeling unsure. "Never mind."
"If you wanna ask me something, do it. I won't bite." He adds the last part with a smirk.
I sigh. Of course, this idiot won't hesitate to add a cocky joke. But then again, I'm dating an unhinged motherfucker who wouldn't miss the chance to say the most inappropriate, out-of-pocket thing ever.
"I was just wondering, how do you feel about this award?" Dropping my arms to my sides, I continue. "I mean, since this is your first award, I don't want you to think that Glyn and I are trying to take over the spotlight or something."
I blurt out the last part so fast, that I lose my breath.
"Hey, calm down." He pats my back. "I don't think that. We earned this award. You, Glyn and I. That reward is for us three. I like that we get rewards as siblings, I love this sibling trio of ours." He asserts confidently, making my heart leap in my throat.
"But Glyn and I have already got a few of our own rewards. This is your first and it's with us." I argue.
"And I'm glad. Fuck, I'm so proud of us Bran. You two are my family, I love you guys and I wouldn't have it any other way." He states proudly, and I actually cannot believe all that just left Lan's mouth. He's always been competitive, even when we were kids drawing silly little drawings or in middle school when Glyn's teacher said she had incredible talent. I like that he finally gets it, family is above all.
"I love you too, Lan. I'm happy you feel that way." I hug my brother, embracing him in my hold and enjoying this rare moment of vulnerability.
He hugs me back and I realize, Landon King may be hard to deal with, but when it comes to his family, he can be gentle and warm-hearted too.
We pull back just as I hear the door behind me open and a deep captivating voice fills the room.
"Hey, where is–" A huge grin breaks out on my face at that specific sound. I spin around and my eyes clash with those alluring blue ones. The ones that have been my favorite work of art ever since I laid my eyes on them. He's a few feet from me, but his comforting scent floods my nostrils immediately. Nikolai is standing before me, looking so gorgeous and charming, that I'm at a loss for words. Black trousers, black oxfords, a white button-down shirt, and an untied tie around his neck, but he's carrying his black suit jacket in his hand.
His hair is tied in a sexy ponytail that makes the whole look ten times better. One of the things I love about him—and there are a lot—is his hair. Those long, jet-black strands that sweep through my fingers are my literal obsession.
This man is extraordinarily beautiful, and he knows it. We've been together for more than two years now, but every single time I lay my eyes on him, I feel the same flutter in my stomach I did a few years ago. I'm so glad I have him in my life. He makes me have reason. He makes me want to experience the world. He makes me want more.
