The stars will choose the sun and leave the moon to shine alone. But stars can never shine when the sun does.

It started in the hallway. I didn't know who she was; I didn't have to, for my heart already knew she would be someone I would never forget, someone who would stay with me into this life and the next, for she was the sun that shines even in the night. She was the color yellow; she was happy and hopeful. She was my Yellow; she was my Luisa.

"Kate." My friends said while waving their hands in my face.

I shook my head to get out of my mind. "Yes?" I responded.

"What were you thinking about? It is about Yellow." Alice said while grinning.

"No, it wasn't," I said while turning away from her.

"Oh, it was," Carina said while giving me a dirty look.

I rolled my eyes, annoyed, but she was right; it was definitely about her. However, they didn't have to know that. The bell finally rang, and I could escape being attacked by Alice and Carina. Alice and I had the same 3rd period, so we went the same way. While Carina had some AP classes, she's brilliant. I have faith that she will go places. I get excited because I get to see Yellow in between bells in my 3rd-period class. I can only see her for a quick second because we go up the stairs, and she goes the other way; even so, a glimpse of her makes me smile. Then I have to go to my 3rd-period class with Mrs. Hellsing, and she's the definition of an exciting character, just like her name; I don't have too many problems with her because at least she can teach.

"Hey, Kate," Alice whispered during Mrs Hellsing's lecture

"What?" I asked, whispering back.

"Do you think Shane likes me? Like actually likes me?" She asked.

I just shook my head. "Yes, of course he does. Otherwise, he would have asked you out stupid," I whispered, trying to stay calm.

Alice has been liking Shane for the past five years or so. But she refuses to believe he likes her back, even if he asked her out in middle school. She rejects him so that he can ask her out again during our senior year of high school.

"It looks like Kate and Alice have something to tell the class," Mrs. Hellsing said out loud, a little mad that they were talking while she was giving her Lecture.

Alice and I stopped looking at each other and shook heads at Mrs. Hellsing.

"Good." She said while continuing her lecture, and the class laughed at us.

The rest of the class was boring; Alice and I didn't talk for the rest of the class period because we had a test, and Mrs. Hellsing watched us closely to ensure we weren't cheating. Because it was my Senior year, I had early releases and didn't have a 4th period on A days, so I just went straight to work right after Mrs. Hellsing's class. But the strangest thing happened: on my way walking out of the side doors to enter outside, I turned around, and there she was wearing these black high heels, making her seem taller than me, wearing a black sweater with some jeans due to it being under 40 degrees out. She looked so damn pretty. I quickly turned away, considering I was staring at her. I promptly walked into my all-black red interior 2023 Lexus RC F; I needed to collect myself before I started to drive off to work. I took a deep breath, turned on my car, and started diving off to work. I work at a Hospital about 40 minutes from my school; I took a nursing exam last year that allows you to help around the hospital as a CNA.
