This Super Fight is still in the making being pushed by an ever-building storyline of 2 powerful Mexican Fighters in Saul Canelo Alvarez and David "the Mexican monster" Benavidez.

After Canelos masterclass unanimous decision against Jaime Munguia landing 234 out of 536 total punches being 43.7 percent dodging and weaving Munguia's 663 punches causing him to only land 170 punches total. People questioned Canelos' decision of this fight as he had stated he didn't want to fight Mexican fighters as they worked together and that being a key reason behind him not facing Benavidez followed by the popular statement, he seems to make on every fighter saying "he fights nobody" causing many people to question if the fighter really is running away from this super fight.

The Mexican Monster has his hands full for now moving up to the 175-pound division to fight Ukraine's Gvozdyk (20-1, 16 KOs) a former light heavyweight champion, a title he won with a 10th-round KO over division stalwart Adonis Stevenson in 2018. Benavidez is currently -590 and Gvozdyk +400 outright. A fight where Benavidez should come out of still maintaining his perfect record.

We should be preparing to see this fight near the end of the year or beginning of 2025. Canelo Alveraz stands with a record of 61-2-2 being 5 '9, holding a 70-inch reach at the age of 33 compared to the much larger 28-0 fighter Benavidez standing 6' 1 holding a 76-inch reach at 27 years of age. The size difference has a concern towards most but canelo has a resume far greater than most when it comes to facing much larger fighters, so what makes this fight any different?

The passing of the torch has always been a discussion when transferring the old to the new. How the new era would introduce itself and close the chapter of the old. Canelo has not had a finish in a fight since 2021 against Caleb Plant and soon after that going for more than he could handle and moving up to 175 to find his second loss of his career  against Dmitry Bivol who laid out a blueprint of how to use size and reach to defeat canelo by keeping him at bay and off balance with his strong jab and power making it nearly impossible for canelo to create any kind of momentum in the fight only landing 84 punches in a career low for him in a 12 round fight.

Benavidez definitely took big consideration being close to the same size as Bivol. In this superlight I see Canelo walking in as the favorite at -120 compared to the +110 underdog Benavidez. In this 12-round bout I see Benavidez coming out with early success as Canelo is known to start slow in fights as he looks to measure the distance and understand the opponents moves in the fight. Towards round 7 Canelo will start making his march landing more power punches soon to have his momentum broken down by the larger, younger and faster fighter as Canelo is exposed for his flat feet. With Canelo being unable to start his hunt and being broken down in the ring this fight would soon find the distance and come to an end. Naming the new undisputed Middleweight Champion of boxing and possibly the face of the Sport and closing the story on one of the greatest Mexican fighters of all time.

Final prediction: Benavidez by unanimous decision.
