My Fire

When you left you took everything
The small bit of smile I had left
The heat of the fire that I had known for my entire life
I can still feel the burns
The smoke flooding my lungs as it made its home in them
All that's left is an echo of the heat
A dull ache where the fire was red hot
A bit of rasp and ache when I speak now that the smoke has drifted away
The flames came long before you burning me from the day I was born
Fueling my life giving it meaning
You took something you had no right to take
And i refuse to let you keep it
So I take it back
My passion will burn for someone else
My pain will belong to me and me alone
My smoke will fill my lungs and make me happy
My blood will burn as it courses through my veins
And I will reclaim my fire
