"Mrs. Debuios? Mrs. Debuios? Are you home?"
Mrs. Debuios set down her crocheting and placed her dark sunglasses over her wrinkled eyes. With a sigh half filled with pain and the other half exhaustion, she stood up, using her old wooden cane for support. "Coming!" her raspy voice called as she inched her way down the hall, her cane echoing against the dark wood flooring.
"I'll wait!" The reporter called back. When Mrs. Debuios finally made it to the front door and opened it, the reporter smiled brightly at the ancient woman. "A pleasure to finally meet you Mrs. Debuios! My name is Emilee Carter, a reporter from the Sun News. How are you?"
Mrs. Debuios huffed and spit at Emilee's feet. "Write that in your news paper," she hissed before slamming the door in the young girl's face.
"WAIT!!! WAIT!!!!" Emilee called through the old oak door. "I WANTED TO ASK YOU A FEW QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW YOU FELT NOW THAT YOUR MOVIE WILL BE RELEASED TONIGHT!!!"
Mrs. Debuios was half way down the hall at this point, muttering something about reporters always wanting to dig up the past and putting their noses in piles of crap that they would regret shifting through later, when she froze. "M-movie?" she whispered to herself in disbelief. "Th-they are actually gonna do it after all?" She walked as quickly as she could to the door and threw it open. "Where are they showing the movie at?"
Emilee was shocked and took a few seconds to collect herself. "Th-the um, Video 4. Why?"
Mrs. Debuios nodded. "Ah, the old cheap theater. I remember that one."
"A-actually, it's the newest one in town."
"It was rebuilt. Don't argue with me. When I was in 3rd grade I used to go to the free movie showings on Monday's. How long before my movie is shown?"
"Um...two hours?"
"Can you drive me there?"
"But miss....you're blind! Why would you want to see the movie?"
"I don't have to see it, because I remember it. Come, come. Help me pick out a dress." Mrs. Debuios shuffled back inside, leaving the door open for Emilee.
Emilee carefully stepped inside, noting how clean the house was. "B-but Mrs. Debuios! About those questions?"
"All I have to say is this: it's about damn time!"
***************
"Mrs. Debuios! How do you feel about the new movie?"
"Mrs. Debuios! Will you be emotional? Do you think you'll cry?"
"Mrs. Debuios! How did you perform that operation while blind?"
"Mrs. Debuios! Do you wish you could still see so that"
A load sound was heard over the chatter and everyone fell silent when they realized it was the movie, starting off with a bombing. They all sat down slowly, a trance falling over them as young Clarence's words could be heard in the darkness.
Mrs. Debuois clutched her knees tightly as the sound of her 20-year-old voice filled the theater, her mouth slowly matching the words.
"It was two weeks after my 12th birthday when I lost everything...It was the forth of July, and my family and I were on our way to a fireworks show..."
