North of the city of Lancaster is the dull, suburbs that make up Black Hollow. Nestled between a woodland area and the ocean, the most controversial stories covered on the local news usually centers around the regular climate loopholes or the occasionally odd crop sizes sold at the vegetable market.

Before a week ago, no one in the state had ever heard of Black Hollow. That is, until the body of 17-year-old Margot Cantrell was discovered in a ditch a few kilometers from the town's welcoming sign. A shocking story that officially put Black Hollow on the map.

Her arms and legs were tightly bound with ropes, and her eyes and mouth were covered with strips of black satin cloth. These were the only clues her killer left behind. Now, the detectives face a daunting murder investigation, with a community engulfed in horror and grief. When strong evidence connects him to the crime scene, Margot's ex-boyfriend, Riley Collins, comes under suspicion right away. After all, he had the motive to kill as proven by their publicized argument and subsequent breakup the night that Margot disappeared.

As authorities fixate on Riley being the prime suspect, Charlie and her friends refuse to accept the easy narrative. Determined to uncover the truth, they begin their own investigation, convinced that the real killer is still out there. As they dive further into the turbulent and disturbing case, they uncover unsettling truths that challenges their very notions of guilt and innocence. Each revelation proves to come with a steep cost, exposing hidden secrets and fractured relationships among those who knew Margot. Worse, there might be people out there desperate enough to keep certain secrets buried, along with the dead girl.

As the tension rises, a terrifying realization also sets in: the real killer may just be waiting for the right time to strike among them. And, in order to discover the horrific truth behind Margot's death, Charlie and her friends must now navigate a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse, before it's too late.
