If you've been online for awhile, especially in fandoms, you've probably heard about the "30-day idol challenge", which is as follows:
I decided to showcase Randy Rhoads for the 30 days. As influential of a musician as he is, I rarely hear about him! Hopefully someone will find this and learn about his artistry and legacy...
Here's a quick summary of Randy Rhoads' life:
Randy was born in Santa Monica, California on the 6th of December, 1956. He started learning guitar around age 7, starting out with more folk and classical guitar.
He founded the band Quiet Riot in 1973 at age 17, and later left to join Ozzy Osbourne's band in 1979 at age 23. Some of his greatest songs are Crazy Train, Mr. Crowley, and my personal favorite, Slick Black Cadillac. His trademark guitar was a polka-dot, flying-V.
His life ended at only 25 years old, on the 19th of March, 1982. Randy, Rachel Youngblood (makeup artist for the band), and Andrew Aycock (pilot and tour bus driver) were involved in a plane crash that took all of their lives. The night before the crash, Ozzy and Randy spoke, Randy told him "You'll kill yourself, you know, one of these days." In response to Ozzy's drinking habits...
In his personal life, many described Randy as humble and a jokester. Other than guitar, he liked photography and collecting model trains. He came from a family of musicians, and was close to his mom and his siblings, Kelle and Kathy 🤍🕊️
