Hi, Evan! How have you been?
My name is Charlotte, but you can call me Charlie, everyone does. I'm not sure if Maddie had mentioned me to you before today, but she's my best friend. I don't know where I'd be without her. She talks a lot about you, and now that I think about it, it's almost like I know you *chuckles*. She's really proud of you!
If I don't watch myself, I'll end up writing a bunch of things and not get to the main point of this letter, which is why I'm writing to you (I think *chuckles*).
I want you to know that I love your sister and I'm always looking out for her. We take care of each other. I've known about her situation with Doug for a while now and I do what I can to help, but you probably know she doesn't accept much help when it comes to that...
Anyway, the reason I'm writing to you is to keep you informed about what's going on with Maddie. I know she might hide or downplay some things, and if you care about her as much as she cares about you (I'm sure you do!), you'll want to know what she's really going through. So, I'm here to assure you that you'll get all the information.
If Maddie ever finds out about this, she'll kill me and then come after you! *chuckles* If you don't tell her, I promise I won't either!

I also wanted to give you my number in case you want a slightly faster method than letters... Not that I don't like them, I think they have their charm, no one sends letters anymore! Feel free to message me anytime, and I'll respond as quickly as possible (I don't know if Maddie told you, but I'm also a nurse, so my days can be a bit chaotic *chuckles*, but I promise to respond as soon as I can).
Also, know that I'm aware that opening someone else's mail is a federal crime and I respect people's privacy, so any correspondence you send to my address will reach Maddie's hands unopened!
I really want you to trust me. Maddie needs as many people by her side as possible, and I don't want us, unfortunately the only ones she has at the moment, not to get along.
I think I've rambled enough *chuckles*, I hope you're doing well, Evan!

Nice to meet you, I'm Evan, but you already know that.
I really appreciate what you're doing for my sister.
I'm not sure what Maddie told you, but I've been trying to convince her to leave Doug for a long time now. When I left, I almost got her to come with me. She said she'd come, but when it was time to go, she backed out. She gave me the Jeep and told me to go, I think somehow Doug found out and threatened her.
You asked how I've been... The truth is, I'm better than I've ever been in my life! Sure, I miss Maddie, but traveling has been so good for me! I've been sending her postcards, next time I'll include one for you too, I guess we're friends now, right? If we're not while I'm writing this letter, I think we will be when you read it lol I don't know how long it'll take for this to get to you, but I sent you a message almost as soon as I finished reading your letter, I'm still waiting for you to reply... hopefully ypu'll do so before I receive another letter lol.
About the letters, agreed, we can keep them going. It's different and old-fashioned, but like you said, it has its charm.
Question: Is writing "*chuckles*" in letters/messages your thing or just a way to lighten up the letter? I liked it... I was thinking about how to show you which sentences I was laughing at while writing to you... All I could come up with was the good and old "lol", not nearly as good as your method I think... Maybe I star coping you, hope you don't mind if I do!
