3. Late night talk

After the meeting, Ana exits the room and goes upstairs. All of the kids bombard her with questions, but unfortunately, she can't tell them anything for their own safety. Since it's been a long day, she decides to get ready for bed before finally drifting away into much-needed sleep.

Ana wakes up in the middle of the night from a loud noise in the hallway and decides to check on it. She quietly grabs her wand, gets out of bed, and walks out of her room.

"God Kreacher you scared me half to death! .What are you doing in the middle of the night?"

"Kreacher is very sorry, Miss Black. Kreacher simply wanted to clean while everyone was asleep."

"Kreacher, that's right, it's the middle of the night go get some rest, please."

"Of course, Miss Black."

Kreacher disappears into the dark hallway muttering some things, leaving the now fully awake Ana all alone. Ana knows she can't go back to sleep, she never could, so she decides to go get a glass of water. Walking towards the kitchen, Ana hears some noise in it. She steps into the kitchen.

"Lumos," she says, and gives a little squeak when she sees someone specific in the kitchen.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you".

She breaths out. "Remus god, no, that's fine. I just didn't know you were staying here."

"Oh, sorry, yeah, Sirius offered me to stay here for a bit since it's just easier this way with the order."

"Oh yeah, right, well, what are you doing up so late anyway?" Ana asks taking a seat at the table.

"I couldn't sleep, so I wanted to make some hot chocolate. Do you want one?"

"Oh, yes, please," Ana replies.

Remus makes the hot chocolate and gives a cup to Ana.

"Thanks".

"You're welcome, so what are you doing up so late?" Remus asks.

"I heard a noise outside, so I wanted to check who it was, and yeah, it turns out it was Kreacher who had the brilliant idea of cleaning in the middle of the night."

"Oh yeah, Kreacher, he has always been very, very strange. Don't let him get to you, though," Remus says.

"Oh no, I think he respects me since I'm black, but yeah, I don't know".

After a couple of minutes of some small talk, both of them have sadly drunk up their cup of hot chocolate.

"Well, it's pretty late we should both head to bed, shouldn't we?" Remus says.

"Yes, yes, we should, but it was very nice talking to you".

"Goodnight, Anastasia".

"Goodnight, Remus".

Ana walks towards her room and has so many thoughts in her mind. She liked the way he said her full name. Normally, she wouldn't really like anybody calling her that, but when he did, she didn't mind. it sounded good on his tongue. She liked talking to Remus and maybe even wouldn't mind Kreacher waking her up in the middle of the night from now on if that means she can have some more late night talks with him. She keeps realizing that he was her teacher once and is way older than her. Ana is very confused and decides to ask her best friend Spencer for help. She sits down quietly on her desk and writes a letter to Spencer.

Dear Spence,

I hope you are doing well. Sorry for not writing sooner, but the order meeting was very exhausting. Overall, it was pretty boring, though I miss you so much and wish you were here. It would definitely be more fun with you! But that's not the only reason I decided to write you. You do remember our old DADA teacher, Remus Lupin, right? Well, he is also in the order since, surprisingly, he is my father's best friend. But that's not all. I think he's a very nice man, and I'd like to get to know him a little better. Is that weird? Anyways, please come visit me soon.

Ana seals the letter and hands it to the family owl, Mary.

"Here, Mary, take this to Spencer Cornwall."
