Constant Tug of War: ItaSaku

Today is March 28th, Sakura's birthday. We wanted to throw her a huge sweet sixteen, but she insisted on keeping it small. She didn't even invite her friends! Only my beautiful family, she said. That's the thing about Sakura. She is different than other girls her age. 

She is special.

This year on June 9th, I'm turning 20. Great. You're so old Itachi, you're on your last year in university. Yeah, I started university when I was 17 since I was too advanced. Sometimes I don't want to be so smart. Everyone only sees me for my talent and looks, not for myself. Except for Sakura. She sees me for who I truly am. Not like all the other girls.

Itachi, you're too old for her. And she had a crush on Sasuke, remember? Calm yourself. She's too young and she's just a friend. Okay? Just a friend.

Yeah, that's what I've been telling myself over the years. I have feelings for the girl who had a crush on my kid brother.

It all started when Sasuke and I started living with the Harunos. Since our parents were murdered, everyone kind of stayed away from us. They whispered to each other whenever they were around us. Even though we managed to stay alive, we felt nothing like it. We felt dead. Kizashi and Mebuki Haruno were caring and all, but they were busy people. They were the heads of Konoha police force, after all. The one who nurtured us back to life was Sakura. The cute, petite girl with extraordinary pink hair and brilliant emerald eyes. The most weird thing was that she didn't care that our parents died at all! She acted so normal, like nothing ever happened. Well I gotta admit that she was annoying as hell, but I think that certain trait was what helped us recover the most.

"Yo, Pantene!" 

Oh, and I forgot to mention my nickname that Sakura gave me when she was 7. She said my long silky hair reminded her of the women in Pantene commercials. Well the name stuck.

"Pantene!! I've been calling you forever!" yelled Sakura.

"Yeah?"

"We're waiting for you, dude I gotta blow the candles! I can't wait to make a wish!"

"Yeah, yeah I'm coming"
