Rose: Please hurry!

Colossus: You're not the one running around in plate armor!

The two of them had been running through the woods for some time now, with the giant, despite his weight, doing a fantastic job of keeping up with the huntress. Soon, however, he stopped, gripping the young woman's shoulder as they passed some bushes.

A patrol of Thalmor soldiers passed by on a road a little further on.

The giant wasn't too keen on confronting the elves who had put him on the chopping block, so he made the young woman stop. But she didn't ask any questions, stopping herself and making herself scarce when she saw the altmers.

Moving slowly and silently away from the patrol, they resumed their run.

Rose: I saw this girl being chased by Thalmor soldiers, and she jumped off a cliff to escape.

Colossus: Did you see what kind of wounds she had?

Rose: She threw herself into the canopy, and the branches cushioned part of her fall. But she took several cuts, and I'm afraid one of the branches pierced her belly.

They arrived in front of a huge cliff.

Rose: Come on, she must be around here, just under that big tree over there.

The giant walked slowly towards the huge pine, his eyes scanning the wild grasses until they stopped on a figure in the grass. An injured girl.

He dropped to one knee, looking at the girl.

Wearing mail and blackened steel plates, her head was hooded. Shaved hair.

She was young.

A child, maybe fourteen. Her facial features still not fully those of an adult. Certainly not past that stage in her growth.

The parts that weren't protected by mesh and armor were covered in cuts, but more importantly, her central thin cuirass, which bore the symbol of a bird, was pierced by a tree branch. He analyzed the wounds, seeing nothing major apart from the one in her guts. And even then, it hadn't pierced her all the way through. The eyes under his helmet changed color, but this hadn't been visible thanks to the shadow cast over her face.

No fracture. Wonderful.

He took the girl in his arms, bridal style. Then he stood up, looking at Rose.

Rose: I have a camp a little further away, I could treat her there.

Colossus: She'll need care. But she can wait to be transported.

They set off again through the woods, the armored giant finding the girl light in his arms, while his heavy footsteps followed Rose once more.

Rose: Thank you, for helping me. And for helping her. Are you an adventurer?

Colossus: Yes. How did you know?

Rose: Soldiers don't wander the countryside alone... And deserters abandon their armor.

He bit his tongue, remembering that he was indeed wearing the armor of a soldier in a civil war. However, a grunt from the girl in his arms brought him back to reality, causing him to lower his head slightly.

She opened her eyes very slowly and painfully. Revealing hazel eyes, almost tending towards orange as the air tried to escape her lungs to form words, all that came out were grunts of pain.

Colossus: Rest. You're safe now.

Her eyes went to the steel face. Settling on two black holes which, strangely enough, brought her a little warmth. And she closed her eyes.
