"Well, here we are!" Scorch said as the four landed. Beetle couldn't contain his excitement. His tail curled as he admired the entrance. A large stone platform was welcomed by a large tunnel. A sign hung from the top saying 'welcome'. "This here is the headmaster of the school."
"Hello!" the Nightwing responded with a calm voice as he waved. "The name's Peacebringer." The dragon had dark magenta scales with a purple-like glaucous-colored underbelly. His eyes were asparagus green along with dark purple spikes. Along his back rested a black cape. His tail had a ring like pattern made up of lighter colored scales. "What happens to be your names?"
"I'm Serpent."
"Conder," Condor growled. Smoke raised from their nostrils.
"And I'm Beetle."
"Pleasure to have you long, Prince Serpent. We have many royals joining us this term. Don't you have any siblings with us?" Peacebringer asked.
"Yes. Caldera, Cove, and Beach," Serpent responded. "We're all very trilled to be coming and can't wait till classes start." The Nightwing smiled and turned to Beetle.
"I have to say, your scales are very beautiful. Most of the Hivewing's I've met are yellow or orange, and I haven't met a lot. But you're like a brown tan. I like it." Beetle blushed at the headmaster's words.
"Thank you. My parents considered me to be dull, having no color within the Tribe." Serpent glanced at Beetle. Condor rolled their eyes and walked into Jade Mountain Academy, giving a snarl to Peacebringer on the way.
"Well, sounds like awful parents. Anyway!" Peacebringer said as he clapped his talons together. "Feel free to roam around as we expect more students to arrive. You can find a copy of a map in the library. Terracotta will be awaiting your arrival." Peacebringer stepped to the side as he invited Scorch over for a conversation. Beetle and Serpent walked into the school and followed the signs to the library.
"It'll take me more than a day to get used to this place," Beetle said.
"I heard they added more subjects like math and fighting," Serpent spoke.
"Those seem interesting." The two entered through a large doorway into a room. The ceilings rose high into the air, cubbies were carved into the walls, along with stone ledges, and tables with cushions. A circular desk resided in the middle. "Wow! This place is awesome. I can definitely see myself spending my free time in here."
"Hello," a Mudwing said as his head lifted from above the desk. "Who do you two seem to be?" The Mudwing had beautiful chestnut-brown scales and a reddish-brown underbelly. His spikes were chocolate colored and amber eyes. He had a weird limp as he walked around his desk, but Beetle noticed his hind leg. Looks broken.
"I'm Beetle, and this is Serpent. Peacebringer told us to look for a dragon called Terracotta in the library. I take it that's you?"
"Aye. Come to my desk and I'll provide you a map and library card." The Mudwing limped to behind his desk and began to scrummage through the papers that laid on his desk. "It's gotta be around here somewhere."
"What's a library card?" Beetle asked out of the blue. Terracotta glanced at the Hivewing before running his claws over the papers.
"Excuse the mess. I wasn't expecting anyone just yet-ha! Found you," he exclaimed as he held a large scroll in his hands. "Just a moment." He grabbed two maps and pushed them towards Beetle and Serpent before handing them a small paper.
"Library cards will allow you to check in and out scrolls. As long as you're able to remember what scrolls you borrowed, you may take loads. When you check out a scroll, I'll check your library card with a stamp. When you bring it back, I'll cross it off. Each scroll has a corresponding stamp"
