I was located on the very tippy top floor of the Ivory Industries building, inside one of a hundred cubicles that just so happened to be connected to another cubicle that housed a one in a million kind of person. My best friend and my only reason for living.
"You need to get your curtains hung." Callie snickered from above the cubicle and I could just barely see the green of her eyes peaking over.
I grimaced horrified by the inappropriate comment.
"That is so awful Cals, that poor man went through so much and you're making a joke out of it." I was one to always reprimand Callie but only out of love.
"Oh hush you know you'd say the same thing if he was here, because that man is fine!" She completely comes around so I can see her face to face as she fans herself dramatically.
"Oh yeah, remind him of one of the most traumatic moments of his life." I shake my head in disapproval but smile in lightheartedness.
"I'm only kidding, but honestly what's got you so pent up do you actually need your-" I look at her with a sharp eye. "panties dropped?" She raises her hands in defense. "I said panties dropped!"
I let out a long exasperated sigh putting my hands up to my face.
"No, it's just this morning when I woke up there was a cat sitting on my face and I know it was Samantha."
"Wait doesn't she know you have a severe cat allergy?" I could hear the growing anger in her voice.
"Yes and yet I yeeted the furball off my face and fumbled for my epiPen, hence the reason I was late, because I had to run to the ER. But now I'm on copy duty per Mrs. Jones request even after I told her what happened." It all just came out like i'd said it all with my last breath.
"You know I was wondering why you were looking like a red blowfish when you came in this morning." Callie smiled making me roll my eyes in annoyance.
"I'm only joking, but you kind of deserve it because how many times do I have to tell you that you can come live with me and Charles?"
"You already know why."
She sighed exasperated.
"No I don't it's a stupid reason and you know neither of us care, we both love you and only want what's best for you." I could tell the conversation was about to take a turn and honestly after the events from this morning I was not in the mood to go down that road again.
"Are we still going out tonight?" I could immediately tell Callie knew what I was doing but she perked up regardless.
"Yes! And you have to come over so we can get ready together, because I already know everything in your closet is gonna be absolute ass." She laughs while returning to her desk.
