The girl watched her long-time boyfriend prepare another cake as The Great Bake Off played on the TV. The woman, Rowan, loves watching her long-time boyfriend, Charles Sun, prepare any dish because he's very passionate about it. Rowan loves watching Charles try to perfect a new recipe. It was as if he was on his own cooking show with her being the only audience.
To think that the same hands that are decorating the cake with icing, strawberry filling, and powdered sugar are also the hands of a well-known assassin. It should bother Rowan but it doesn't bug her even the slightest because her older brother, Blood Boots, works for Charles's father, Big Sun.
When Charles left to grab the other cake from the oven Rowan tried to swipe the icing off the cake. Her finger was just about to grab it until Charles's hand caught her wrist. His eyes didn't once leave the fresh cake as he checked the middle to see if it was fully cooked. He shook his head at her but smiled nonetheless because Rowan always tries to swipe the frosting. Rowan gave Charles an innocent smile before leaning over the countertop to kiss his cheek after promising not to do it again until after the cake's finished.
A faint click came from the door once Charles placed the cake back in the oven. Rowan looks at him in worry. Charles held his hand up to signal her to stay back. She nodded while he cautiously walked toward the entrance. He leaned back as three assassins popped out from the entryway to jump him. Charles easily blocks all three of them while yelling at Rowan to run upstairs.
One of the attackers went around Charles and ran after Rowan. Another one tries to follow but Charles yanks the masked man back before kicking him toward the supply closet. The last attacker went to punch Charles. He blocks the man's fist while the second man stands.
Near the railing, the first attacker went to kick Rowan. She grabs his ankle and then twists it in the other direction. Rowan pulls the man close before elbowing his crotch. The man fell on his knee while she grabbed a nearby vase. She bashes it against the man's head, then grabs the masked man's collar before twisting his neck. A huge satisfying crack fills her ears as she tosses the body over the railing, making him crash on the dining room table just as Charles killed the last guy.
The two heard the smoke detector beeping like crazy and rushed toward the oven. Charles grabs his oven mitts to pull out the very charred cake. He sets the very hot dish on the counter while Rowan uses the spare mitt to blow the smoke away. Charles groans in frustration before sliding the unedible dish to the side. He looks at Rowan to inspect for any injuries. He felt relieved when he didn't see a scratch on her.

Rowan called Blood Boots and his friend, Xing, to help 'clean up.' Blood Boots is always worried about Rowan's safety, which is why he taught her how to fight in case he, Xing, or Charles weren't there to protect her.
"When was the last time you killed someone?" Blood Boots asks Xing in Mandarin.
"Couple weeks ago," she answers.
Blood Boots groans as he feels around one of the assassin's pockets to find money inside. "Are you serious? Who did you kill?"
"Some guy who was causing trouble at the docks. I don't usually take the time to ask their names. Why?"
"I've been in this game almost 30 years. Fuck. I used to be the guy they called when things got real. Now I'm only brought in to clean up someone else's mess." He felt a slap behind his bald head. "Ow!"
"Someone just tried to kill me and Charles and you're upset that you're on clean-up duty," Rowan snaps in disbelief. "I'm trying to keep you out of trouble."
"My nickname is Blood Boots," he reminds her. "Shouldn't I get them bloody every once in a while?"
"That's what happens when you give yourself a nickname. It creates too many expectations."
"There's blood on your boots now," Xing stated amusingly before looking at Rowan. "What if we start calling you Nutcracker?"
Rowan chuckles. "I only broke five guys' sacks."
Xing motions to the man with the broken ankle. "Six including him."
"Seven if you add Charles," Blood Boots jokes.
Charles descends from the stairs while putting on his robe. "Hurry up. Less talking, more disposing bodies. We have neighbors."
Blood Boots catches a whiff of a burnt cake. "Damn, did you burn something or did Rowan decide to cook?"
"Don't be an asshole," Rowan slapped his chest with the back of her hand. Charles exhales as the elevator door opens. Big Sun and his men strolled out and made their way toward Charles's and Rowan's place.
Charles makes his way over to his father while Rowan, Blood Boots, and Xing bow their heads to their boss - except he's not Rowan's boss. Charles nods to Big Sun. "Dad." Big Sun looks around at the catastrophe that happened in the place. "Isn't he supposed to be in hiding?" he asks one of Big Sun's men.
"He was worried about you," the man answers.
"Did you burn something?" Big Sun wonders while continuing his inspection.
"Forgive me, I was preparing dinner until we were attacked," Rowan half-lies for Charles's sake.
Big Sun waves Rowan off and completely ignores her, which makes Charles clench his jaw. "Why only three?" Big Sun thought out loud. "They know you, know what you can do. Why only send three? And why here? Better to attack when you get out of your car, where there's room for them to escape if it goes wrong. Sedate Rowan and use her to bait you until they kill her." Charles's eyes flicker to Rowan. He silently assured her that he wouldn't let anything like that happen. Blood Boots places his hand behind Rowan's back to comfort her. "Or...when you get out of the elevator. Tight quarters in the hallway removes your advantage."
Charles shrugs his shoulder. "Maybe they're bad at their jobs."
"You should have kept one alive to question. You enjoy killing too much and you protect Rowan too much."
"I'm sure Sleepy Chan sent them. Probably payback for the dumbass Xing killed on the docks."
"Always consider the most complicated possibility, then work your way back to the most obvious answer. Then you will never be surprised."
Charles nods again. "Yes." Big Sun looks at one of the dead assassins. Charles looks as he spots the gears wheeling in Big Sun's head. "What's wrong?"
The bullet came quick. Blood Boots pulls Rowan down with him and then drags her away from anywhere a sniper could see her. Charles rushes to grab Big Sun before he could collapse on the ground.
"Hsiao..." Big Sun groans. "Han."
He fell unconcious right after.

A/N: Yes, I decided to write a story based on The Brothers Sun. I've only seen 3 stories which I'm like "This is crazy. The show is super good and really funny." In my opinion at least. There will be very slow updates, I don't have a set schedule or anything. I'm still deciding if I want this story to have long chapters or not.
I was going to use Arden Cho for the face claim but have her as a different character, but decided against it mostly because she would have looked better with Bruce, again in my opinion feel free to disagree.
Also, in regards to Rowan: she does know how to fight and she has killed before. But around the time her relationship with Charles got serious, he vowed that he would protect her and asked to only fight in self-defense.
Big Sun doesn't like the relationship at all because he thinks Charles will grow soft/weak and that their enemies won't hesitate to use Rowan as bait, which never happens.
Let me know what you guys think so far. Vote, comment, etc.
