That day, Nie AnAn had to tell Mother Nie that she wanted to go home and take a nap and that she would be more comfortable sleeping in her own bed before Mother Nie let her go. Right when Mother Nie was about to go take a nap, she saw Father Nie walking out of the kitchen, still with some grease on the corners of his mouth.

She walked over, took a look at Father Nie first, then walked into the kitchen. Inside the refrigerator, the leftover mixed chicken gizzards were gone. "How dare you finish the leftovers by yourself!" said Mother Nie when she caught him red handed. "So what if I've finished it? It's not my fault that AnAn's cooking was too delicious!" said Father Nie righteously. "Besides, didn't you say you are going to try to get some of AnAn's hair without her knowing for testing?"

Mother Nie paused for a second and was speechless for a little. "Oh, I was so happy earlier I had completely forgotten about it." Then, turning the table on him, she placed the blame on him, "You didn't get it either." "I'm an Uncle. It'd be odd for me to get so close to a little girl to get her hair. How am I going to get it," said Father Nie matter-of-factly.

"Oh, so you are calling yourself an Uncle?" said Mother Nie with her lips pursed. "Don't you know that you have to be in your 40s, good looking, and single to be able to refer to yourself as an Uncle?" The two were bickering when Grandpa Nie walked out of the room with a little clear plastic bag in his hand and said calmly, "I have it right here."

Mother Nie and Father Nie were both surprised and looked incredulously at the bag in Grandpa Nie's hand and said, "Dad, how come I see hair inside the bag?" Grandpa Nie was very proud of himself. If he had a beard, it would be floating right about now. "Of course this is AnAn's hair. I have been around the block a few more times than the two of you!"

Father and Mother Nie, "..."

Half an hour later, Father and Mother Nie left the house together to go to a professional testing organization. After handing in the sample, both of them were really excited. "What happens if AnAn isn't our daughter?" asked Mother Nie nervously. "AnAn has no parents, right? If that's the case, we can just be her godparents!" said Father Nie. Mother Nie nodded in agreement. "That's right. That's right. That way I won't be too disappointed either! Ay, I just hope she is ours!"

Mother Nie thought about it for a little bit and said, "Remember that we have a custom bracelet made for AnAn when she was a month old? It had the character 'Nie' carved on it!" "You meant to say that that's the reason that Huo YanXiao used that as her last name when he named her?" Father Nie was starting to get excited as well. "That's highly likely!" Mother Nie patted herself on her chest and said, "The more I think about it, the more I think AnAn is our daughter!"

The DNA result would take 24 hours, so the couple waited till Nie AnAn left the Nie's the next day to go pick it up. The envelope containing the result was sealed. The couple couldn't describe how they were feeling. They had looked forward to the result but now they were insisting on opening it up only after they had arrived home.

Grandpa Nie, who usually took a nap in the afternoon, also skipped it today to wait at home until there were noises coming from the front door. "So? What was it?" was the first thing he asked.
