Dana is inspired by the 1950's Tomboy look. This was to communicate a rebellious and carefree nature that Dana does not actually have, rather pretends to. Dana does this to please others and fit in to her group. She wants to seem cool OG, genuine, and happy, though underneath she really hates herself and life in general. The reason why Dana is a dog is that her Responsibility is to protect Hazel. I intended to make her look older by giving her a tall narrow silhouette, but this is not shown in the picture and Dana looks quite young. Dana is 20 years old by the way.

Hazel Communicates a sense of sophistication and gentleness through her style of Dress she mimics the style of a 1950s housewife. She carries on with this persona in multiple capacities, she is often the Sober friend who drives people home, the mom friend who is overprotective, and the friend who shows the most decency in a situation if the cops come Hazel is going to be the one explaining the situation. Hazel is a Sheep to further communicate her innocence, as well as show Dana's responsibility to protect her.

Michael's design is meant to emphasise how "undone, unrefined, or homely" someone can become as a result of their mental health being low. He is simply wearing a flannel and jeans which is not objectively bad but less effort towards appearance on in than other characters. Michael's jeans sag and he could use a belt and if I could redo this drawing Michael's shirt collar would be undone and uneven. His eyes being asymmetrical are just an accident and do not mean anything 💀 and the reason he is a cat is that he has a charismatic and charming personality he is a party host after all.
