chapter five-
heart to heart

The buzz wears off eventually, for me anyways. Jillian still kept her fanboy posey fluttered around her like gnats, however.

Kenji, Chandler's friend being the leader. So everyone surrounding that guy was a weirdo, good to know.

Apparently the news about my sister and I had been replaced with the buzz of a beach bonfire. I couldn't lie, the sound caught my ear, despite hating almost everything about this place, I had to admit, it had its scenery.

Gorgeous, tall green trees everywhere, crystal clear water and the beach. There's no beach in Arizona, no where close.

Plus i'd never seen the beach in real life, only knew the dessert and sand and on special occasions lake days. I'd only seen the beach in photos or videos, only heard audio of waves crashing, never have I felt beach sand between my toes.

I wanted to see if the air was really salty and hear the crash of the waves, but at a party?

I knew the water was salty, but how did it taste, what did it feel like? Would the water even be swimmable?

"What are you gonna wear?" Jill asks, leaning on her locker, standing across from me.

She was rocking sporty, cute today, she had already made the cross country team, and tryouts weren't even over, she was just that good. She seemed to be assimilating pretty well.

I decided soon I would scope out some clubs to join. I always had better grades and academic achievements, but Jillian had her popularity and looks, we evened each other out.
