Chapter 15

Blades

They all were in the cars, toward the port, today they will catch him-Alby Brenner- all of them were excited, but Namjoon was nervous. What if Alby is not the murderer? What would we do then? Who could be?

All these questions were roaming in his mind. He was focused on the road. Yoongi was in passenger seat with him. His Hyundai IONIQ 5 was leading while Tae, Jin and Ron were following in Hyundai C-Class.

While there was Hyundai Nexo leading the Hyundai Santa Cruz somewhere on the road.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with hues of orange and purple, the bustling port began its nocturnal symphony. Ships stood ready, like silent sentinels, awaiting their duty to load the vessels that bobbed gently in the water. The shrill ring of a phone sliced through the sea breeze, its urgency undiminished by the distance.

A man, weary from the day's toil, answered with a languid drawl, "Hellooo," his voice stretching each syllable as if to hold onto the fleeting daylight.

"Mmm, I see," he responded moments later, a soft chuckle escaping him, the sound mingling with the distant call of seagulls. His demeanor shifted like the tides as he continued "what were you doing damn it, bitch you would pay for that."

The words tumbled out, a low growl of frustration, before he flung the phone aside, its clatter a stark contrast to the rhythmic lapping of the waves against the dock.

Concealed by night's shadow, they waited, the moon cloaked in clouds. Their footsteps' cadence lost amidst a cacophony of rage-filled cries, a command to arm the vessel echoed. Namjoon's voice cut through, decisive,

"On three," priming them for the onslaught.

"One."

.

"Two."

... Tension peaked, the assault imminent. Yet...

"No delay; engage at first sight," instructed the figure clad in black, his oceanic gaze piercing through the mask.

As Namjoon braced for action, four assailants burst in, guns blazing, jolting everyone into heightened vigilance.

The tension in the room was palpable, a standoff under the dim light. Namjoon's crew, momentarily taken aback by the sudden intrusion, quickly regained their composure. With practiced agility, they ducked for cover, returning fire with precision. The air crackled with the sound of gunfire, the scent of gunpowder thick.

The Mortem team clashed fiercely with the smugglers' henchmen, a maelstrom of conflict in the warehouse's dimly lit corridors. Meanwhile, Yoongi and Jin were on a mission to locate Alby Brenner, the elusive target of their operation. After a fruitless search together, they decided to divide their efforts for efficiency.

Yoongi navigated the labyrinth of towering crates, his pace quickening with urgency. Each shadow, each sound seemed like it could be Brenner, but he remained a ghost. Yoongi's heart raced, adrenaline fueling his determination. He knew time was running out, and every second counted in this game of cat and mouse. The hunt continued.
