Naomi sighed as she put down her pencil, struggling to keep up with the math questions on the board, she raised her hand diligently, wondering if she could get extra time to study for the upcoming test.
The teacher rolled her eyes before speaking in a stern tone ''Naomi, No, you can't have extra time to study.'' Naomi gritted her teeth, slowly putting her hand down in sheer embarrassment of the situation she was in, ''But Miss Morton I didn't have time to study last night..'' The teacher crossed her arms in annoyance as Naomi made her statement, she thought this was another excuse, everyone always assumed their life was ''perfect''
''And why didn't you have time to study? You had a week, did you even try?'' She said this back strictly again, Miss Morton was growing tired of the same behavior from her, and Naomi didn't really blame her, no one knew about her schedule, she knew that they would just dismiss her as some spoiled brat anyway..
Naomi snapped in anger, her eyebags were covered because of her makeup, no one knew about all of the sleepless nights she had endured due to her job, due to her having to deal with an infinite amount of success at such a young age.
''No, I definitely didn't try at all.. it's not like I'm busy with more important things than some stupid class.'' She answered sarcastically and crossing her arms before standing up and walking straight out of the class, her sister Veronica following behind her shortly after, she was used to seeing her sister cause such dramatic scenes at school.. and it didn't really bother her at all, ''Wow.. did someone wake up on the wrong side of the tar pit?'' She snickered, seeming a little amused by Naomi's sudden outburst of anger.. as she herself was much more calculated than her older twin.
''No, I didn't wake up at all.. in fact we both haven't slept in days and you know that.'' She answered in a snappy tone, clearly expecting some sort of reaction from her, ''Yeah, but I don't let those things affect me, you do.'' She replied in an equally snappy tone, making Naomi look at the ground in embarrassment.
She huffed while pondering around the empty school hallway ''I hate that you're right...'' Pausing for a moment before speaking again ''Except this time you're not, if it doesn't affect you too then why have you also been failing your classes?'' She spoke with an edge in her tone, she knew whenever Veronica was lying and this was incredibly obvious to her.
Veronica's eyes widened a little, she wasn't expecting her sister to have noticed her silent struggles because of work. ''Maybe classes are just boring, okay?'' She crossed her arms, now looking at the ground as well, this was the first time that they genuinely understood each other for more than shallow reasons..
Naomi looked back up at her twin, she wanted to connect with her so badly but she didn't know the right words, sometimes a look was enough, that was all it took for them to understand, it was the glue that held them together for so long, well.. besides the fact that their parents needed money.
As Naomi reached her hand out to her sister she heard her phone ringing in her purse, she paused, pulling her arm back.. and hesitantly answering, the moment was ruined and they had a meeting, She immediately heard the loud voice of their guardian, hoping that the call wouldn't be about business for once.
''Girls, the press conference is in 30 minutes, there is a limo waiting for you outside, don't be late.'' She said this emotionlessly, Naomi listened to the sound of her ''managers'' voice through the phone,
knowing that she would only ever call for one thing, ''We'll be there in a second.'' She said this in a mildly annoyed tone, hanging up the phone and placing it back into her purse.''Let me guess.. it's about our meeting, isn't it?'' Veronica said this in annoyance, crossing her arms, she knew the drill, this was just another day in the life for the storm twins..
