Wings flapping, humming sound indicating their arrival, their image is soothing
Girl sitting at a bench, a hummingbird hovering near some flowers
They are resting.
The hummingbird constantly flying, never meant to take a break
Girl with thoughts flying through her head, wanting a break.
She looks at the bird and the bird looks elsewhere, but that gives her more time to admire.
The bird is drinking mouthfuls of nectar while the girl's water bottle sits almost full.
Hummingbird is painted browns, oranges, reds, a beautiful sunset.
(How many sunsets has it seen? How many has she missed?)
Is it here to stay, or is this simply a visit?
The seasons and colors may hold the answer, but that answer is not for her.
(It is only for the bird to know)
Nature is peaceful
Hummingbird is beautiful
Girl is wistful.
Just as she wishes to be free, the bird wishes to be home.
