“Love is an addiction that can either destroy you or preserve you.”

ISHAN'S POV :

‘Love.’ Just a word. A simple, four-letter word. But now, it has taken hold of every ounce of my soul, my heart, and my entire being. Society defines love through its rules, dictating the right age, the right person, and the perfect circumstances. They put it in a box, label it, and expect it to abide by their conventions.

But does love ever follow rules?

No. It defies them. It breaks every boundary and molds itself in the most unexpected ways—just like it happened to me.

Who would’ve thought, on that very first day I met her, that I would fall for her? Back then, we were nothing but rivals. Bitter, relentless adversaries who thrived on outdoing each other. Whether it was academics, sports, cultural events, or even the smallest social gathering, there wasn’t a single instance where we didn’t clash. If there was a chance to get under each other’s skin, we seized it without hesitation.

We used to be desperate for each other’s defeat. And now? Now I find myself desperate for her presence.

It’s strange how everything has changed. These days, my mind feels at peace when I think about her. She’s slowly seeping into my veins, running through me as effortlessly as blood. She’s carving herself into my soul, not softly, but boldly, as though she was always meant to be there.

“Dhriti... what have you done to me?”

The words escape my lips, followed by a smile I can’t hold back. I close my eyes, savoring the thought of her, and when I open them again, the stars in the night sky catch my gaze.

Every time those stars twinkle, they remind me of her eyes—bright, captivating, and filled with life. And on nights like this, when the darkness of the sky is offset by the moon’s silvery glow, it’s her smile I think of—her radiant, heart-stirring smile that could brighten even the darkest moments of my life.

She is beautiful.

But not just in the way the world defines beauty. It’s not just her mesmerizing eyes, her enchanting smile, or the graceful curve of her body. Her beauty lies deeper—within her soul, her heart, and her mind.

Ah, her mind. Half of her beauty is in the brilliance of her thoughts, the sharpness of her intellect. It’s in the way she speaks, with conviction and passion, as though she knows the world would fall silent to hear her. She’s not just beautiful—she’s extraordinary. And I, a fool who once only saw her as a rival, now stand in awe of everything she is.

"She is like an addiction—one I embrace willingly, one I’d gladly be labeled an addict for. If loving her is a disease, then I never want to find a cure. She is the poem I whisper to myself in the stillness of the night, the verses that calm my restless heart. She is everything", my breathes stopped as i realised what she meant to me.
