Kian
She only went and packed a fucking bag for me. I wanted to be mad at her but I didn't have it in me to be an arsehole- not when she'd taken time out to pack me clothes, and especially not when I'd been so short with her when we were in my office.
I was more pissed at myself for letting all of this escalate, so much so that now we have to fake a holiday and convince this mystery person or group that we didn't receive the package in time. It's a bit fucking ridiculous if you ask me but it's the only thing I could think of that has a slight chance of working. The alternative would be to risk Isabella's family and that's not something I'm willing to do. They're innocent in all this and even though Isabella signed up for this when she put my ring on her finger, it doesn't mean her family deserve to be put in danger.
Bells and I are silent as we ride in the car to the private airport strip. We had to wait a bit longer for Chief to get things set up before we could leave the building from a side exit- he needed to set the cameras leading up to the exit on a loop so we could get out undetected. We know that these people know where we live so I'm not taking any chances and getting caught because of a small slip up.
"Am I allowed to know where we're going?" Isabella breaks the silence with her question.
"Europe."
"You can't be more specific than an entire continent, Kian?" Her voice is quiet but I can hear the exasperation and I internally take a small pleasure in it.
"Greek Islands. I know a friend who has land there." My voice intentionally doesn't reflect any emotion but when Isabella doesn't respond, that grinds my gears slightly. "Does that suit you?" I grind out. I hate that I can't figure out what she's thinking.
"Mhmm," she murmurs and I barely catch it. The rest of the journey is spent with Isabella looking out the window and me trying to sort out everything for when we arrive. I don't know why I lied to her about owning the land. It's not something I like to promote and I haven't ever taken anyone there- not even my parents know that I own a villa. That's why it's the perfect place for us to hide out. I know the area well enough and can guarantee that security will be top notch.
When Chief pulls up at the private strip, Isabella pulls away from the window. "We're here?" She asks, confused. "This isn't the airport..."
"It is for us. That's the jet," I point towards the private plane which sits a few hundred metres in front of us on the runway. Her mouth drops open and I try to contain my smile at her cute expression.
"I thought when you said you were going to get things ready, we were pulling strings to get on a last minute flight- in first class maybe but not..." Bells gets out of the car, still gawping at the plane.
This time, I can't help the chuckle fall from my lips. "Close your mouth Bells. Gotta pretend you're used to this lifestyle now that the world knows your mine." I didn't intend to use those words exactly and I almost falter after I say them when I realise I mean it. Bells however, doesn't share the same sentiment.
"Yeah, yeah." She rolls her eyes in exasperation. "The great Kian Grey Reign with unlimited funds and women falling at his feet settled for a lowly woman with no inheritance or money to her name. We know what the headlines say."
Wait, what? Where did that come from?
Isabella must realise what she's said because she catches herself and looks at me in horror. "Oh gosh... sorry, I didn't mean to say that," she begins. "It's just that-"
"Don't read the headlines." My words come out sharper than I intend them to as I interrupt her. "Fuck the media, they don't know shit."
She stares at me for a moment then nods hesitantly, quickly looking away and letting her gaze settle back on the jet in front of us.
"Come on, we shouldn't linger out here for too long," I try to soften my voice slightly and start heading towards the plane.
We board quickly and I inform the pilot of our destination. Isabella's awed expressions don't escape me and as I watch her, I get to see through her how it feels to experience something like this for the first time. I almost forget why we're having to fly out to my villa as I watch her marvel over each and every thing.
"Holy moly! There's a whole bedroom back here!" she exclaims as she explores every nook and cranny of the place. I chuckle to myself as I hear her gasp, surely having found something else which amazes her. It's awfully endearing and I allow myself a few moments of respite where I smile openly while she's in the other room.
The intercom sounds a few minutes later and the pilot announces that we need to be in our seats with our belts on ready for take off. Isabella bounds back into the main area with a radiating smile on her face which dawdles slightly as she comes closer. As it's only the two of us flying today, all the seats are empty, including the one next to me. I watch her eye up the options, clearly not knowing where to sit.
"Here," I pat the seat next to me before she can make the choice herself, not wanting her to be far from me as we set off. With the decision made for her, Isabella's face relaxes and she drops into the seat next to me, slipping on the belt. With this being a private plane, the seats are cushy, almost like reclining sofas, and with buttons to adjust all the settings of the seat. In typical Bella fashion, she can't help herself from pressing every single one, testing the features. And of course, once Isabella has exhausted all of the buttons on her armrest, she begins inspecting the ones on the shared console which sits between the both of us.
One minute I'm sitting comfortably upright, and the next, the air whooshes out of my lungs as I'm lying flat on my back, undoubtedly a result of Isabella messing around with one of the shared controls. Fucking hell, this woman is going to be the death of me.
