Kane slowly returned to his seat. He waited patiently for the Shaman to settle himself down, and then proceeded to tell them about what had happened over the course of this trading expedition. He spoke of what they saw at the Red Fox Tribe; how they had stumbled across the kids; how they had discovered Renee's power; and also how the Red Fox Tribe was following them.

After he had stopped speaking there was a deadly silence that filled the tent for several long moments. Each of them was considering the severity of the situation and how it would impact the Silver Wolf Tribe from this day on.

Finally, Lewis let out a sigh and rubbed a hand over his eyes. "What a terrible situation."

Jayce's voice spoke up from one side, "They are both blessed. It makes sense the Red Fox Tribe wants them back."

Kane shook his head and pursed his lips. "It's not necessarily the girl they want. From what I understood... the Red Fox Tribe values the boy more. Alec said Renee was... different before they ran away. Marcus also spoke of her not being fully sound of mind. He said she was foolish, and not able to care for herself, however I haven't seen that at all this whole time we have traveled together. If anything, ...she's too smart, she seems to know about things I have never seen before."

Jayce's eyes narrowed slightly as he considered Kane's words. "She was different before they ran away...? I thought it was odd, but..."

He trailed off and was quiet for several long seconds before he then raised his eyes to meet Kane's, his eyes burned with an intense light. "Can I speak to them?"

Kane leaned back and let out a breath. He knew Jayce would want to talk to them... but that look in his eyes had him a bit... worried. "They don't know how their mother died. Don't bring it up. Renee is also very... scared of her visions. She might not want to talk about it."

Jayce watched Kane's face for a moment before he tilted his head and raised a brow at him. "You're worried about her."

Kane turned away uncomfortably from his look before answering. "I gave them both my word they would be safe here."

"A bit presumptuous of you to assume I'd let them stay in the tribe with so much trouble following them." Lewis spoke up suddenly. His dark eyes also watched Kane closely, examining him.

Kane frowned slightly but still faced that look with his own steady gaze. "Will you turn them away?"

Lewis was quiet for a few moments before he suddenly smiled. He leaned back comfortably, as if what he had been searching for had been found. Crinkles formed around his dark eyes, making them slightly softer.

"The Silver Fox Tribe has not fallen to the point that we must turn away those blessed by the Gods just because they are being chased by those that took to the evil path. If you wish to offer protection to them, I will allow it."

Jayce frowned slightly. "With them both blessed, they must not return to the Red Fox Tribe, this is true. The God of Death would take their power and twist it so that it suited his needs. But we don't necessarily need to take them in. We can send them to the temple."

Kane was quiet for a moment, considering his words, and then shrugged a shoulder and stood up. "Let them decide."

It took a while for the men to discuss. Renee could imagine what they were talking about. She might be new to this world, but she was by no means naïve.

While waiting, she did her best to relax her stiff posture, but each time someone passed by, she felt her muscles tightening back up again. Absently, she ran a hand over Alec's hair, as if trying to comfort him as well.
