Chapter 1. New Feelings

//Luna's POV//

  The chime of the final school bell rang through the halls and shortly after the thunderous roar of teens filled the halls as school was finally dismissed for the weekend. I didn't hesitate long to follow suit, despite the uncomfortably crowded halls I was essentially unfazed. All I was focused on was getting out to the parking lot where I was supposed to meet with my friend Grizz to spend the weekend over at his place. My mother would never have approved of this obviously so this took elaborate planning on my part!

  With help from my significant other and a few other friends we were able to arrange it so my mother will be thinking I'm spending the weekend over at their house instead. I changed the number in my mothers phone while she wasn't paying attention so my friend will be called instead of their parents for when my mother tries to check in they can miss the call then text back saying they were too busy to pick up but we're all good or whatever she needs to hear to make her not be suspicious. As for interacting with my partner's parents, that's the beautiful part. They have no idea my mom even thinks I'm going to be there all weekend, all the planning has actually been her texting back and forth with me and my friends at school today. We were able to convince her that i would be picked up for the weekend and dropped back at school monday with no issue, i already had plenty of clothes over at my partners house for that so mom saw no problems and she agreed without a hitch.

   Speaking of my significant other there they are now, waiting for me in our regular meet up spot in the parking lot looking nervous as usual they are frantically scanning the lot with their eyes trying to spot me. I hesitate to start making my way over, with all the hustle and bustle I could probably just slip right by without having to go talk to them at all. Honestly they can be so much sometimes and all i want is to escape! Sure I like them... at least well enough.. Look, we're  in high school, it's an occupational hazard! If you're not in a relationship you're going to be ridiculed or pushed into being roped into one anyway so you might as well saddle up with someone right? Leaf may be easy to jealousy and super clingy but they aren't going to push me into anything I'm not ready for and that's all I was really looking for for now.

  I quickly shake away my runaway train of thought aside and decide it better to just let them see me before I ghost them for the whole weekend getting hella faded at my actual bestie's house. I see Leaf spot me and a huge relieved grin shot across their face and I mirror it without really thinking. They run up to me and give me a quick peck on the cheek and I recoil looking at them in shock, Leaf always makes a point to ask before even holding my hand let alone a kiss! The look on their face makes it clear they are immediately regretting their actions. "Oh shit! Im so so so sorry! I should've asked first, I always need to ask before touching you in any way! Stupid!"

   Leaf always jumped to these strong self degrading ways of apologizing to me and I absolutely hate it! While Leaf  was apologizing they began face palming repeatedly drawing many prying eyes. It felt like in the matter of a second our quarrel was the center of attention. "No please Leaf stop" I softly gripped their wrists and pulled them down away from their face. "I'm okay you just startled me a little, why so eager?"

  "I'm sorry I just got so nervous I thought maybe you forgot to come see me before the long long weekend where I probably won't be able to contact you at all... NOt t-that that is a problem or anything, I'll just miss you. I can't blame you for not being on your phone while visiting with your friend of course" Leaf stammered on and on until they were just saying "um" and "uh " staring at their feet.

   "Of course i'd come see you he he he" i chuckled nervously at the fact that they clocked the fact that i wasn't gonna be texting them at all over the weekend  "And i'm going to miss you too silly but it's just two days surely we can survive don't you think?" they look me in my eyes and pout at me like a sad puppy "how about i try giving you a bit of time before bed? Main word being try but still it's something" the pout subsides and Leaf gives me a sad but understanding nod before opening their arms asking for a goodbye hug which i happily obliged. We separated and I gave a quick friendly wave before leaving to go meet with Grizz at his car.
